Curious George: GAMESWAP
Alright, we already have music swapping in place, but what about a little something for those of us who like-a da video games?

Games, once beaten, become memory laden coasters. Why not send them along to a videogame junky monkey and get some digital crack in the mail for your trouble. Here's my thinking: 1) Swaps must be within the same country, due to region copy protection. 2) Swaps should be between monkeys who promise to mail on a SPECIFIC date (i.e. we BOTH mail our stuff out on Monday, February 28th), thus preventing shrugs of "Well, I got MY game... I'll mail out yours in awhile." 3) Interested swappers should list swappable games on this post. Once you've posted a list of what you have to trade, you can make offers; NOT before. 4) No cash offers, no multiple games for one game, no begging for freebies. Simple one to one game swapping. 5) Cross platform trading is just fine (i.e. X-Box for SNES or PS2 for Gamecube or PC for Mac) if both parties are in agreement on the trade. 6) Trade working games only (duh) and list if you have the book and original box. 7) You pay for your own shipping. 8) NO COPIED GAMES. Originals only. 9) Be nice, be fair, be honest... or get called out for a serious banana beating. Anybody up for it?

  • I would be up for it. I have at least a couple of games that I was going to put on ebay, as I don't think I will play them again.
  • I'll start; these are without booklets, but in the original case unless otherwise noted. PC Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear (with Urban Missions), Warlords Battlecry II, Star Wars KotOR (with booklet), Empire Earth, No One Lives Forever 2, Myth II, Diablo II, Baldur's Gate II, MTV Music Generator Dreamcast Shenmue, Seaman, Jet Grind Radio, Crazy Taxi, NBA 2K1, Evolution, NFL 2K, Space Channel 5, Resident Evil Code: Veronica, Sonic Adventure, Bust a Move 4, Power Stone, Grandia II Gamecube Eternal Darkness (with manual), Starfox Adventures PS2 (all with box and manual) Xenosaga, ESPN Basketball 04, Arc the Lad I also have a PILE of freebie Computer Gaming World Demo discs that I'll throw in as gravy. I'm looking for PS2, Gamecube and PC games.
  • Forks, if it only ends up being a couple of people, would our *cough* concerns about 'you know what' be less of an issue? After all, I have friends in the US and UK who could send me a game as a gift. Anyway, I have at least the following (have to check if I have anymore). All are PC. DeusEX Warcraft III Warcraft III: Frozen Throne Expansion
  • I would be up for this. I will compile a game list once I can compile a stack of my games first.
  • We've got Kingdom Hearts and possibly Baldur's Gate (#2 hasn't decided) for the PS2 - they work in Australia and NZ. I play and replay most of my PC games, so I'd have to have a good look at what I've got.
  • Dj, I'll start off by saying that I'd like to try WC III. Anything on my list of use or interest?
  • Star Wars KoTR, Empire Earth or Rainbow Six would be of interest. I have the full deal with both WC III games - manuals, boxes, etc. Deus EX is a bargain version, small manual, DVD style box.
  • Already got deus ex and can recommend it wholeheartedly. Would you be up for a trade for Empire Earth and Rainbow Six in exchange for WC III and the Extension? I'll throw in a pile of demo discs and a mix cd for the helluvit.
  • Sure. Shall I jettison the boxes? I kept the boxes because I know some people love to get the whole package. Not sure how much they would add to the international postage.
  • Yeah, who needs boxes? Let's just mail CD's. Just make sure you have the copy protection on there somewhere. PLEASE NOTE that I don't have the docs for my games; the internet being what it is, you shouldn't have a problem finding the necessary info to play. Plus the tutorials help. Gmail me at forksclovetofu@gmail.com and let's get it on!
  • Now, DJ will that work on a US computer? Like for sure and stuff?
  • Forks, as far as I know it will, but then I may be ignorant of such things. If anyone else has info on that let us know. I'll have a nose around on my isp forum and see what they say, there's a lot of cluey people on there.
  • I have a zillion US-bought PC games that work fine in NZ. I don't think you'll have any trouble.
  • I didn't think so tracicle, but not having done it before, was not sure.
  • This sounds awesome but maybe we should get a forum like the MOFI CDX so there could be two threads: one with people's libraries which could be edited for what is out with other Monkeys, one for requests, and another for complaints or other comments. Though we could just do a few threads linked to each other here and then all requests will go to whoever has the game the requester wants...but that would still be sticky as the sender would not know what the requester had to exchange at that point probably and lists would have to be reposted...
  • Oh man, I am so down for this. Until we get a forum going, here's what I've got that I'd be willing to trade: Gamecube: Smash Brothers Melee and Metroid Prime PC: Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and Total Annhilation PSX: Dragon Warrior VII All of the games have the original manuals. Mostly looking for PC or Gamecube games. In particular, Half-Life 2. Oh, and I'm in the US of A.
  • Oh, hell, I forgot to write the list down, but don't want to miss this. Off the top of my head... I'm an old-skoola. :/ And an RPG dork. Sorry. USA for all of these. PS1 Vagrant Story [I said I would play the damn thing but I've had it for over a year] Persona [same, no book] Persona II [same, can't remember about the book] Xenogears [should finish it first, but blah] SaGa Frontier II [ditto] Breath of Fire II [ditto] Quake II [yes, on PS1...] I probably have more, but that's off the top of my head. PC Myst: Exile [I lost my taste for them and forgot to inform my gift-giving relatives] GBA Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past [best Zelda game ever, shut up! but I've finished it, so] I shouldn't give it away already, it was a Christmas gift, but... Spyro 2 [it's cute, but I suck at platformer-types] And the fam' has an XBox and a GameCube, so I'll ask and see if they're up for it through me. A 1:1 trade is much better than you get at GameStop. Will sell soul for Final Fantasy Tactics Advance on GBA. Will sell several people's souls for Harvest Moon: Save the Homeland (PS1) or Lunar 3: Eternal Blue (same).
  • Crap, mixing up my games. STH is on PS2. Strike that.
  • Wurwilf... I'd love to trade for your Xenogears... the g/f is seriously into Xenosaga I and II. Games I have that I'm willing to trade: Xbox: Mech Assault II Rainbow Six 3 GTA Vice City (don't know what happened to the GTA III this was a double pack... think I lent it to someone and forgot) Crazy Taxi PS2: Mark of Kri (I know I have more, but I can't remember which ones I still have and which ones I've already traded back to Gamestop) I can post a complete list tonight...
  • I'll be up for it - I have a bunch of old PC games of which I will post a list later.
  • great idea! GC: F-Zero GX Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes Monkey Ball 2 PS2: Viewtiful Joe
  • OOoooh! I want Viewtiful Joe! Anything on my list you want DrPres?
  • Oh, oops, it's Myst: Uru that I have. I thought I had Exile? Maybe I sold that. Anyway, Uru. Also (PS1) Street Fighter Collection, Scrabble, Monopoly and Jeopardy I can throw in if anyone takes anything else or 3-for-1 or somethin', uh... I probably shouldn't swap Bushido Blade since it's not really mine but I never play it (breath) so... and Need for Speed 3. Yeah, you can see that once upon a time I lived with people who didn't play solely RPGs. Ahem.
  • Xbox: Stars Wars: The Clone Wars Brute Force (no manual) Halo (no manual) Amped 2 Crimson Skies Elder Scrolls III:Morrowind They're all in the original packaging and only the two mentioned above are missing their manuals. (U.S. only, sorry) I'm looking for "Capcom 2d fighters and . . . other stuff that doesn't move the screen at all."
  • check your email forksclovetofu
  • ...um...i kinda have an objection to the one game for one game trade....i mean we all know that some games rot and some games rock....whatta ya think forky? that being said, i have a whole PILE of games that I'd be willing to trade for ratchet and clank:up your arsenal (ps2) gimme a minnit to comPILE a list....later, monkey dudes
  • ok here's my list (hmm...what does it say about the dark places in my soul?...) GBA: Mario&Luigi: Superstar Saga (rpg, box, manual) Warioland 4 (manual) Warioland 3 (which is GBColor, but massive and fun...no manual or box) Banjo-Kazooie: grunty's revenge (box, manual) Pinobee: Wings of Adventure (no box or manual) Boktai (manual)...very strange game...it has a photocell in the cartridge that detects light that you use to power up...but you need a lotta light (those last 2 i'd be willing to trade 2fer1 for something GOOD) PS2: 007: Agent Under Fire Dark Cloud The Operative: No One Lives Forever Simpsons: Road Rage (all with case and manual) and like i said ratchet and clank:up your arsenal is what i want...will trade any 2 for it.
  • oh..and does anyone know if you can play ps1 games on the ps2?....there's a couple out there that look pretty good...
  • you can play ps1 games ona ps2. And I guess those were less rules than good guidelines. If you're willing to trade multiple games for one you've set your heart on sexy, who am I to stop you?
  • Is this DOA?
  • Got me. I'd bump this every day. Where my video game monkeys at?
  • Any Mac types out there? I have No One Lives Forever and Black & White to swap (both with their original cases.) I think I also have Max Payne, although I don't think I have the box for it any more. I'm especially interested in Medal of Honor: Allied Assault and/or No One Lives Forever 2, but I'm open to any offer. Bonus points if you live in the UK since that would save us both some postage.
  • Do the monkey swap.
  • Trac, would it be asking too much for this to make a sidebar? Or maybe I should just start a forum? Or more accurately, SOMEBODY should start a forum?
  • I've got a list of sidebar-worthy stuff to add. I'll try to get them done tonight. I know, I've said that before.
  • And here we are! On the sidebar! FWIW, I've mailed out both games and am expecting two on the way. This works! Let's see some more people jump in, eh?
  • THIS REALLY WORKS! I'm playing Warcraft III now. You suckas need to get on board!
  • PS2 Splinter cell (original) Enter the matrix
  • Would like a copy of Bushido blade two (ps1) or any other Bushido (except 1) Hey sextrobot whats the "Dark Cloud" about? is that the roll playing Japanamation one?
  • I am feeling absolutely ginormous guilt because I was told I didn't have to include the box, yet my swapped game came with the box. Please be specific, people. Pleeeease. Dark Cloud is one of oh, three dozen Japanimation roleplaying games. ;)
  • Surely the box only matters if you're planning to sell it eventually. I wouldn't worry.
  • I didn't send forks the box because it would have meant ridiculous postage. Plenty of people sell games on e-bay without the box, but including all the manuals, etc. Of course, there are some people who like the boxes for the cover art, but personally I'm not fussed.
  • I got forks' stuff today, so it works even over long distances!
  • i traded games with wurwilf! zelda zelda zelda....whee!!!! anybody bored with their copy of ratchet and clank:up your arsenal yet? huh? huh? anybody? loves me some ratchet (the first game was the best because he had no shirt on....yummy!) (ok, that was weird)
  • Heh, #2 desperately wanted Ratchet and Clank but I convinced him somehow that Grand Theft Auto would be better. How wrong I was. Now we have GTA and I suck at it.
  • I have gone off GTA and am immersed in morrowind at the moment.
  • Anybody wanna trade? Hit me up at my gmail account and I'll present a list.
  • Hey remember when this started? Doesn't anybody wanna get back on?
  • I have a PS2 now, but no games that I want to swap yet.
  • dj, you should totally get Ratchet and Clank, if you haven't already. They're great games, all three in the series. (I tried to persuade #2 to swap them recently but he refuses to part with them.)
  • I remember it! Got a great game out of it. Which... I might now trade, since I finished it and I don't think I'll play again. (Liked it a lot, just probably won't play again.) Also have a PS2, and two of the three games I said I'd sell my soul for earlier in the thread (FFTA and Harvest Moon STM). Oh yes. I will, however, still sell my and seventeen other people's souls for Disgaea. Anyway! Still up for it.
  • I played Ratchett and Clank as a hire game and will probably pick them up if I see them around, but at the moment, we just spent quite a bit of dosh on some games, so no more for a few months! May want to swap the most recent Medal of Honour game when I finish it.
  • Anybody wanna get back on this train?
  • These are what I can trade/lend/sell really cheaply. (All GC) Future Tactics Cubivore Amazing Island Mystic Heroes Baldur's Gate Kirby Air Ride Serious Sam: Next Encounter Resident Evil Zero Hunter the Reckoning Timesplitters 2 Beyond Good and Evil Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Super Mario Sunshine Soul Calibur II Custom Robo XIII Metroid Prime Worms 3d Baten Kaitos Eternal Darkness Phantasy Star Online Episodes 1,2,3 Bomberman Generation Super Monkey Ball 2 Paper Mario 1000 year door Alien Hominid Ikaruga Ribbit King Super Smash Brothers Super Mario Kart Tales of Symphonia Why yes I did use to work at a game store, why do you ask?
  • Pez, email me off thread; you've got plenty I'd love to give a go at!
