The Skyscraper Page.
The Petronas Towers, the Chrysler Building, and the Sears Tower are all well known, but have you ever looked at a building and said "What is the name of that?"--even in the city you’ve lived in all your life? SkyscraperPage.com (loads slowly) has a detailed city search of buildings great and small. Also, check out the diagrams of over 2,000 buildings currently under construction.
And if you’re fascinated by the skyline of New York City, try the interactive Visual Index to the Virtual Archive (flash required--click on the "LAUNCH VIVA" link) of the Skyscraper Museum to plan your next Big Apple tour. Scared of heights? No problem. Try something a little smaller. Or smaller yet.

I used their search page to find proposed buildings greater than 1000 m (3280 ft) tall. Apparently the most insane was the X-Seed (better link, French) in Tokyo which would have 800 floors and be 4000 meters (13,100 ft) tall. Either that designer is severely ambitious or is smoking some serious crack. And I mean a 4 km crack pipe.
