Adverts that look like other adverts
  • True statement: people steal.
  • The fishing-hook-hanger made me cringe, very badly. Can imagine reaching into my cupboard with my clumsy hands and having one of them piercing into me.
  • Ahh.. back in the pre-interweb ages, this was a very helpful way to 'fight creative block': get some foreign design annual, adapt to local client, presto! A 'new' advert campaing is born. I recall seeing countless 'logos' and entire campaing packageschurned out by no-talent hacks on unsuspecting people. Nowadays, it's also the otehr way around: client walks in, wants the exact look-and-feel he saw on some ads for sporting goods in a bathroom in Frankfurt, only adapted to his plumbing business... "and, we have not much budget, eh?" Arrghh...
  • This statement is true: Theft happens.
  • ieee! N S F W Boobies! (thanks -- I'll come back l8r)
  • It wasn't earlier...
  • Haa.. back in the before the internet, this was actually a very helpful way to 'fight creative block': obtain a foreign design annual, adapt to local client, and voila! A 'new' advertising campaign is born. Some recall no-talent hacks taking countless 'logos' and entire campaign packages and churning them out on unsuspecting people. Well, nowadays, it is also the other way around: a client walks in and wants the same look-and-feel he saw on some ads for plumbing in a bathroom in Stuttgart, only adapted to his sporting goods business... "and, we have not much budget, eh?" Yarrghh...
