Curious George: What did you do today? Seeing as we're 22 hours into the calendar day and there have only been five posts, I couldn't help wondering where the monkeys are. Where were youse guys today?

Me -- work. Being self-employed I set my days off to Mon and Tue, which means I work Sunday (yes, working on the Sabbath damns me to eternity in hell). I spent today on a mundane project writing conversion software to transform a scientific dataset into comma-delimited format. My wife made lunch, and I ate that at my desk and worked some more on the program. Well, my brain is numbed from the work, so I'm off to spend time w/ the family, as my 13-month old just woke up from his nap.

  • Well it's 3:40pm here in not-so-sunny Los Angeles, but if we're talking last 24 hours: I watched my Maryland Terrapins beat Duke at basketball for the third straight time (for those of you unfamiliar with American college sports, Duke is a hateful collection of rich boys who are favored by the referees and hated by everyone else) Then I went to my friend Bennie's birthday party (happy b-day, Bennie!), came home, slept, woke up, and went to the coffee shop to do some writing, and now I have a meeting about a new theatrical show at 5pm...
  • It's half past seven Monday morning here. I've just got up, brewed some coffee and smoked far too many fags (US/UK language confusion ROFL alert) whilst posting mucho crap on here and reading about another sorry defeat for my hometown football team. I'll be spending the day finishing off translating the footnotes to a thrilling paper on the legal framework administering civil society organisations in China, then I'll edit the transcripts of a set of interviews with women migrant workers. I may get to start work on translating another paper if the time goes well. I've also agreed to have dinner with my ex forgetting it was Valentine's so I'm trying to think of strategies to prevent the fallout from that being anything unfortunate.
  • Bugger all, really. Just what Sundays are for. Looking forward to doing a bit more of it this evening, after a bit of bang-up roasty din-dins.
  • Abiezer: so, is your apartment now full of fag butts? (sorry couldnt resist)
  • Last 24 hours? #mofirc, writing, working at computer way too late, got to sleep in, lazy noontime with husband and baby, nap, ran errands, did grocery shopping. Have to do some cleaning tonight. #mofirc's been dead today too. Usually it's busier on the weekends.
  • First thing I think of when I get up is getting my mouth on a butt, Doctor. Should I seek help, or just buy stronger toothpaste?
  • It's just gone one o'clock Monday morning here, and I'm chasing Abiezer_Coppe in the 'who can smoke the most fags' contest while failing miserably to get any work done. Unlike the rest of the week which has been freezing and nasty, Sunday turned out a glorious spring day, so we spent the afternoon strolling round the city and drinking coffee in the sunshine. (I popped my head round the door at #mofirc too, but it was, as Melinika says, quiet as the grave. Another recruitment drive might be called for, I think...)
  • I read a whole lot more than comment or post, so I've behaving as normal. Other than that, I've been watching "24" Season 3 on DVD.
  • Woke up shortly after midday to the sound of hailstones bouncing off the window. Realised that I had done the best thing by spending half of such an inclement day unconscious. Played several (OK, more than that) rounds of WEBoggle, but never got higher than third place. Wrote up some lyrics that have been bouncing round in my head for years, but couldn't complete the middle verse. Wrote a little about BitTorrent - I've been working on a Ruby/PostgreSQL tracker for work the past two weeks. (That probably seems weird in a week where someone was fined USD 1 million for running a tracker, but I am actually using P2P for genuine, honest-to-Mammon, legitimate and legal purposes.) Plus all the usual life-sustaining stuff - washing, eating, drinking.
  • Wandered into a bookstore, picked up a novel and finished it in six hours right there.
  • Just have to say: this is cool! I like visualizing monkeys across the globe going about their affairs, what the weather looks like, what's happening. Nothing much here, though. Tried to get Windows 95/98 software working on my XP system, then DOS, which was a no-go. Played with the puppy.
  • 2:17pm Monday. Spent yesterday at the beach, building sandcastles and filling moats and mucking around in the water, followed by a leisurely lunch-afternoon tea at a local cafe. Today it's cold and wet so I took Offspring #1 to visit one of his friends so they could burn off some energy together. Just got home and am so ready for a nap, but need to buy food and collect hubby from work since it was too wet for him to bike today.

  • 7:25PM sunday. slept in until 1 (damn me and my crazy saturday nights), went to work, came home, sat around. yesterday it was pouring and miserable all day, but today it's been nothing but 72 degrees and lovely.
  • Woke up 'round 8. Snoozled and blew my nose, a lot. Got an e-mail. Discovered someone in a position of power had mispelt my e-mail, and that I hadn't received some important news. Discovered the reason that I've been drinking myself into a stupor all week is in fact nonexistant. Now trying to figure out tactful ways to tell all the people who've been listened to me moan: "Oh, by the way, that whole "my life is over" thing? Not true. Whoops!" Yay!
  • Stayed up way too late chatting with melinika and rodgerd on #mofirc. Slept in this morning. Took ms. hicinbaby to brunch here. Came home, took a nap, got up again, cleaned the shop, started weeding the garden. Got into a mud fight. Came inside, got cleaned up, started cooking dinner. While the beans are cooking, I checked my email and my daily web sites, and so here I am. Just another day in hicinbaby-land. Shall I fpp my pasta fagiole recipe?
  • Actually, I slept around the clock nearly twice, though I have no idea why. Still, I had some interesting dreams so I can't complain (not that I'm a frequent MoFi poster ora anything).
  • i spent the day working at a charity kissing booth! there was candy, tap dancing and a band! (this was at pull my daisy--the coolest clothing store in l.a.) we got bored giving kisses on the cheek so we came up with more services...our crazy signs read: kisses...$1, 'french' kisses...$5, italian kisses...$2, 7 minutes in heaven...$22, see a breast...$10 (we made 30 bucks on that one), kiss your ass...$3, bear your child...$250 (sorry, no takers)....we raised 320 bucks and we had a matching fund from rhino records...so...almost 650 dollars to end the whales or save the homeless or something....so many cute boys....mmmmm
  • Stayed up way too late last night and awoke too early hence even more dazed and confused than usual. Sunday chores and errands, long walk along the shore in the SUNSHINE!!! Checked in with oldest and bestest friend who had a heart attack last week but is thankfully on the mend. Considered easing up on the fags and grog. Currently having a rum and a smoke.
  • 7 minutes in heaven? Dare I ask?
  • Apart from usual daily animal chores and writing, with my cousin unstacked firewood, loaded his pickup truck, then unstackled and loaded more into mine, drove mine to my sister's and unloaded and stacked it. Then did a second trip with more wood to her place. She invites us in, feeds us, we talk, don't get back to my place till around two in the afternoon. Under pretext of reading I nap for a couple of hours this afternoon. More or less routine Sunday, when chores I've been putting off all week finally get done.
  • Tried to figure out "Outline of a Theory of Practice." Contemplated making a trip to Paris to leave a nasty note for Bordieu encouraging him to find an editor. Panicked about theory. Called home. Finished writing my theory assignment. Panicked about an upcoming event (again.) Had a Killians. Made brownies. So unless people want vastly interesting posts about anthropological theory from the 1970s, I thought posting wouldn't be in great interest. (Not that I have yet. But soon.)
  • I slept a bit, then took a load of empty milk cartons to the reptile shop. (No milk carton recycling here, so they take them and use them for the, um, "snake food") Now I'm making soup and cleaning out my closet.
  • Being the laziest larva around. Kickin' it grub-style, yo. Did watch Master and Commander; Manly Men On A Big Fucking Boat, and Animal Factory. If I ever see Willem Dafoe in real life, I will pass away from fright.
  • It's just after 8PM Sunday night. My husband's making dinner. This morning we watched The Animal, which wasn't quite as bad as we expected; it had some funny moments. After that, he recorded some CDs onto tape and I cleaned the bathroom and played City of Heroes for a while. Then we went to a matinee of Ong-Bak, which was excellent, great old-school martial arts, and it even has an interesting plot. Came home, talked to my mom on the phone in Maine (she's ok), more City of Heroes, and now here I am. We'll watch Friday the 13th while eating dinner and frosted apple cake (which my husband made last night), then off to bed. Nighty night!
  • I spent the entire day snowboarding with my best friend, and my skiier brother. We had a snowball fight, and my friend laughingly (and somewhat correctly) accused me of being much younger mentally than I actually am. And now I'm writing a news piece for my student paper on the whole spongebob, buster bunny, gay-cartoon flap.
  • Up early, we cooked breakfast all nudelike and ate it in the newly renovated sunroom, which was fun. Then my wife had some friends in for tea and coffee (we both reluctantly put on clothes) while I gathered up a pile of books and cds and other stuff to take to the SPCA charity shop tomorrow. Hurray, we get rid of clutter, and the animals get some cash. Naptime afterward, and then we started cooking for dinner (had friends over with severe dietary restrictions, so meal-planning was fun). Dinner was eaten, our friends went home stuffed full of goodies, and my wonderful wife is now doing up all the dishes since I did most of the cooking. soon we'll be to bed, but not before I email about a thousand people, a task I've been avoiding since Friday. Tomorrow: Grocery shopping, making a birthday present for a friend, and possibly having more people over for dinner (damned freeloaders....). Oooh, the excitement.
  • After waking up at 2:00, I made waffles and recieved a handjob. Then I cleaned up (the kitchen) and went for another nap.
  • I've been here at work this weekend. Major deadline combined with a major fuckup for which I am partially responsible. It doesn't get any better than this, kiddies! so why am I on MoFi? eek!
  • Spent all morning cleaning my apartment and making lunch for my girlfriend, who instead of coming over, called to break up with me. Good times.
  • Ouch. Well, at least you didn't have to feed her lunch first.
  • Shite new guy. Still, at least the apartment's clean. Small things can help. I'm now up to footnote 34 of 50 and the end is in sight, both parctically and spiritually. Did you know that ‘social organisations at or below street committee or township level, when applying for registration, should submit to the registering agency an evaluation of their suitability given by the appropriate government or Party agencies of the district in which their locale lies, or their county or municipal Party or government where there are no intermediate levels of administration’? Fascinating or what?
  • I'm the only schmuck who spent the whole afternoon in a shopping mall trying to get a stupid gift for stupid valentine's day?
  • I hurt my back. badly.
  • tripping my brains out. Hunted mushrooms in the graveyard. Found some nice amanita velosa. Tasty. Saw that film "Neverland". Pretty good, kinda tear-jerky though. We were gonna make panang curry, but no thai basil. Wait 'til tomorrow. Drinking dutch beer now. Smoooooth.
  • Spent the morning on a long and tiring cross country flight from the ATL to PDX. Got back mid afternoon, lazed about for a bit, and then spent 2 hrs on an international phonecall. Then had rice and peas for dinner, and right now i'm about to call it a night (at 7:30pm) because i'm worn out from travelling all weekend!
  • Out of bed by 9:00 to feed the animals. At the gym from 10:00-12:00. Run to grocery and then home. Write 1 quiz and 2 lectures. Begin writing midterm exam. Take break to do laundry and vacuum. Printing 80 copies of vocab terms and slide list- printer shrieks and dies horrible death. Run to Best Buys to buy a new printer (probably too expensive and fancy for my needs). Stop at Tibetan restaurant (owned by Dali Lama's brother) on the way home for takeaway. Watch a woman on Antiques Roadshow reveal a daguerreotype of Edgar Allen Poe that she bought at an antique shop for $98. Set up new printer and print my 80 vocab lists and 300 pages of readings about Byzantine monuments in Thessaloniki. Wash that grey right outta my hair. Give friend a haircut. Start work on second lecture and write a make-up quiz for student who conveniently developed a "sinus infection" right before the real quiz. Put laundry away. Try to get everything together for tomorrow so I'm not freaking out in the morning. Begin reading about cloister sculpture in Spain. Stop to look at Monkeyfilter and spew this bit of drivel. Time to go to bed, yet I have about 3 more hours of work to do. I hate Sundays.
  • I played a lot of World of Warcraft.
  • Sunday is when the family gets to feel selfless by putting up with me for a day, thus fulfilling its quota of filial obligation. It's a wretched way to live, being a burden like that. But I get to play Dance Dance Revolution, so I don't complain.
  • Since Friday night, here is a brief bullet-list: - Friday night sushi - Saturday: nasty headache which required codeine. However, Mrs. Chimaera and I rented Napoleon Dynamite, which, though it wasn't Dynamite, was well worth the rental price. - Today I got up, took a walk, worked on some mixes for some new and old songs, noodled around a bit on the guitar, and watched about 2/3 of the Cranberries Live in Paris on Trio (a channel which is getting short shrift lately). But I've never posted to the front page anyway. Someday, my friends. Someday.
  • I played with crayons for three hours, and made a machine (cardboard box covered with tinfoil) to turn Chewbacca (my cat) into Chewbacca (the wookie).
  • Got up bright and early this morning after sitting up 'til 4 in the AM finishing off Knights of the Old Republic. Went out, took some pictures and shot some video of the Gates in Central Park. After that, I went and stood on line for 90 minutes to play volleyball for four hours and hand out my Dysfunctional Valentine CDs to my friends. After volleyball, I ate some sexy fries at Firehouse, chased it with a martini then a triple espresso and came home. Typical Sunday for me.
  • There is a poetry night called Welcome To Wormworld at The Foundry, Old Street, every Sunday. Went there to support my mate, who was performing (he rocked the place). The main attraction is an oldish woman - The Worm Lady - who does long, florid poems exclusively about worms. All types of worms. She's amazing. I went to this after a pleasant late morning/afternoon/early evening spent listening to sports radio, having a bath, watching The O.C. and Stargate SG1, and afterwards I went to another bar with friends and drank more and took a tiny amount of the drugs. I am now regretting the lateness of the hour, for it is a school day tomorrow. Night night!
  • I read the comments in the Brown Bunny post.
  • Morning breakfast on couch with Courtney and the dog, then off to peddle books for eight hours. Had a damn fine panini for dinner, long luxurious walk at Blunn Creek (including a Most Peculiar Incident Involving a Rat Terrier, an Opossum and Two Hundred Feet of Drainage Pipe) , came home, read nonsense book for awhile and am now mindlessly surfing while Courtney sleeps.
  • Little Feyd-Rautha's first birthday party! I cooked mexican: turkey and spinach enchiladas, grilled chicken and steak tacos with fixings and herb tortillas. Prior to that, up at 6 with the Beast Rabban to discuss the various aspects of pirates, pirating and Batman's capacity for either being a pirate or defeating pirates (sketchy on that last point), various domestic cleanings, vacuumings and disinfectings, swept out the garage for good measure, replaced a disgruntled smoke alarm, packed up five big diaper boxes of books for the garage sale this spring that had been on my pool table for the recently ended "Every Book 100% Off" sale, and finagled a way for my new tivo to deliver a signal to a 20 year old TV that fits my TV cabinet *perfectly* (ran it through a throwaway VCR using L1). I'm always glad when Monday rolls around, so I can go back to work and finally get some rest.
  • Does anyone else, at least those with M-F 9 to 5 type jobs, find themselves staying up really late on Sunday because they don't want to go to bed and face Monday morning? No? well, forget I said anything...
  • Congrats, Fes!! I can't believe it's been a year, and I bet you can't either. I just cooked and ate the best chow mein I've made in years. Yum.
  • I stay up late anyway. Always been a nightowl, I'm up until 1:30 or so most nights. Alarm goes off at 6:15 - 4.5 to 5 hours sleep is just about perfect.
  • Thanks tracicle! A year on Tuesday. It really does fly by.
  • This was a waste of a day--should have gone riding, but it drizzled constantly, and the ground is slick as snot, the horses are filthy and wet, so decided to bag it. I wrenched my back (overdid it, shame on me) so sat with an ice pack on and off all day--now better. Mr. BlueHorse made lovely chicken-barley soup. He also made me a lovely 6' shelf for my collection of donkey S&P shakers, so I'll be productive tomorrow and sand and varnish. Sat around this evening wishing I had a good book to get into or could get excited about doing something constructive, but surfed the web instead. Will have to go to the library--that always makes the weather turn nice. Sully: cheer up, buddy.
  • I'm sitting on the edge of my bed as I type this, hoping my wi-fi connection I'm borrowing from my neighbor a block and a half away holds up by the time I'm through. The weekend was spent working on photography, taking pics of old large houses around the Capitol Hill area of Seattle and stumbling across Bill Gate's old alma-mater Holy Names or some such thing. Very ostentatious, churchy-looking thang. Today I wandered down to Pioneer Square after looking at a Nikon D-SLR I'm buying next weekend, provided I don't quit my job first. I've been reading reviews and tests on it over the past two months now and when I went to look at it today I was wandering around it's menu system as if I had owned it for years... One of my two cats, Ana, is in heat and is whining like hell, and because I want to give the male a bit of a respite I have her here in my room with me... Rrrrrrwwwwwwoooorrrrrr, Whhhhaaarrrrrr, etc, etc. I'm sure you get the idea. Now I'm winding down, putting the cats into the living room/dining room for the night and thanking whomever put full doors on those areas so I and the housemates can have peace and quiet from a cat in heat... *snooooorrrre* Oh, and happy Valentines's day to those who have loved ones, I am not, nor have I ever been, one of those. Doesn't mean I'm not worthy, just a fact of life...
  • Can I have ActuallySettle's day, pretty please? I worked all day revising the first chapter of my dissertation (cobaltnine, I bet we could have some fun theory discussions! I love me some dead French-type theorists, even though most of them deserve a good kick in the... knee.). I worried that a friend of mine is mad at me because I cancelled having dinner with her last night to work on my dissertation. I thought about what I'm going to do tomorrow on my dissertation, and about teaching my students about Rousseau. Now I'm sitting on the couch, resting my brain, with my little doggy Steve asleep on my lap. Ahhhh...
  • I spent my day getting my elderly Aunt ready to move to her new care/nursing/old folks home. No kid's, no husband, few friends... She's got some dementia. Make's one think about life, it's purpose, and where one is going... And who would ever believe in an afterlife if it meant being forever the way you were just before you died? I'm beat..it's off to bed.
  • More usefully, you by this logic suggest that should you want to change the mind of a religious person you should appeal to the inconsistancies of the values of the community they were raised in. That's obvious and yet I've never put it into practice.
  • "I woke up Sunday morning/ with no way to hold my head that didnt hurt/ and the beer I had for breakfast wasnt bad/ so I had one more for dessert" (these posts just reminded me "Sunday Morning Coming Down" is an awesome song) ps Am I the only who thinks this is really cool and we should do this every day or week at least?
  • I played the bass until 4.30 on Saturday night, (gig), so Sunday was a bit of a bust. Tried (unsuccessfully) to persuade my daughter she really really needed a nap. Gave up, went to Blockbuster for DVDs. Later, watched The Piano Teacher, (not with my daughter!), which I found alternately fascinating and risible. Amazing performance by Isabelle Huppert, which should interest anyone interested in what actual acting involves. Liz Hurley she ain't.
  • Spent the day with my wife, looking for her Valentine's Day present. Settled on a book about the Pre-Raphaelite's home lives. Went and hung out with friends.
  • Damn, I got here late. What did I do on Sunday? I fretted about the human condition, solved the problem of world hunger, and cured three-or-so previously fatal diseases. A pretty normal day in this neck of the woods.
  • Bugger you skrik I was about to write something equally silly!
  • I also buggered skrik. It was enjoyable, but left me feeling somewhat cheap and emotionally used.
  • I disguised myself as Skrik and showed up at quidnunc's midafternoon. No, I lolled around in bed with Mrs. Tool for a few hours, then got up to have breakfast and read on the front porch. After that I lay down on the couch and read some more (Wind-Up Bird's getting great, quidnunc, can't wait to give you a full report). Jogged two miles on the treadmill while watching part of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Scrubbed the bathtub and toilet as a V-Day gift, did some laundry. That evening we served food for a neighborhood function at our church, then went home and had a bed picnic of filet mignon, garlic mashed potatoes, and spinach salad. Mrs. Tool made blackberry pie. I made her a short love letter. As I went out to lock up the garage, I was overwhelmed with the sense memory of a twenty-dollar cigar and a glass of thirty-year-old scotch, and for the briefest of moments, I regretted quitting smoking.
  • I spent the morning sitting on the couch with some coffee and my boyfriend (visiting from Oz!). Then, being the nerds we are, we went to a coffee shop, and worked. Six hours of simulating population covariance matrices and blah blah blah statistics. Then, we met my best friend and her boyfriend for dinner at greek restaurant. I fell asleep last night watching Ghost in the Shell, my first manga ever.
  • Sunday, I slept in, then did homework until 3. We then brought my laptop to the shop to get the CD drive fixed, so I haven't been online... :( Then we got groceries, had dinner, two friends came over, we watched the Simpsons, played bridge, and then I finished Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, which I'm still in raptures over. And now it's nearly noon on Monday and I'm still in my PJs. Lazy!
  • livii, I loved Strange & Norrell too. Just finished my second reading of it a couple of weeks ago. What did you think of the ending?
  • lots and lots of luuuuuuuv.
  • I was sick this weekend, but managed to have friends for dinner sat night (one of whom I discovered is a fellow monkey---what a small world!), read "A series of unfortunate events", watched movies, had a big fight w/mr. medusa, but now thats all better. still sick tho :(
  • Sunday was dedicated to me making promises to myself to get out and get something done on Monday (which is why me and my laptop are currently in a wifi-equipped library... I'm supposed to be rewriting my blog's mangled CSS, damn you MonkeyFilter). Took a two-hour nap for the first time in months, then just vegetated in front of the boobus toobus to watch FIVE HOURS of sitcoms on the local Fox station, including two fifty-year-old "I Love Lucys", three "Simpsons" (one of which was 12-years-old), and better-than-average "King of the Hill" (a rerun of the stuck-at-the-airport episode - the first-run "military cat" was so-o-o-o predictable), "Malcolm" (the billboard protest) and "Arrested D." (Martin Short without the use of his legs stole the show, as expected). I'm trying to think of how I can write a TV article about it to make me feel less guilty, but no luck. At least I wasn't watching the Grammys.
  • Ahhh, Medusa! The annual Valentine's Day fight, I presume? Mr. B. and I have also been known to celebrate the bigger holidays this way in our passionate beginnings. Now we just ignore the holidays, if at all possible.
  • sunday: woke up late, a bit groggy from food poisoning the night before. repotted plants (got to smash an old pot, fun), and treated them for spider mites. then on to scrubbing the bird cages. got cleaned up while my husband changed the a/c filter and vacuumed. he showered, and we showered one of the birds afterwards. we went out to get some food and to find a toy thermometer to make one of the parrots hold, for a goofy "get well" card for my dad. no luck on the thermometer. we did find a collection of old Superman comics for him, though. called my cousin and brother and had good conversations with both. went to the grocery store with a husband who was goofy from low blood sugar (so goofy that we didn't get the one thing we needed to make dinner). as a consequence we had cheese and english muffins for dinner. did a bit of the crossword while playing with parrots and watching something off the tivo. went to bed, and poked at the crossword for a few minutes before tossing it aside and falling asleep.
  • mct: I loved and hated the very end at the same time. But mostly loved it. It`s not really a happy ending at all, but yet everything works out as far as what you would expect of the characters. The overall resolution, I loved. Damn if that woman can`t tie things together. Stephen`s role was the best part. You?
  • Saturday: I judged high school singers at a solo and ensemble festival sponsored by the Florida Vocal Association. I then went home and packed... my ex was down from north FL and she's getting ready to sell the house, so I helped out with cleaning and the like, and I worked on packing the things I'm taking so I can be out in a week or so. Still don't have a place, but it's being worked on. She and I then watched The Terminal and I, Robot. Sunday: I had my first premiere of a commissioned composition! A church commissioned me to write an anthem (for chorus and organ) commemorating their 60th anniversary after hearing some art songs I wrote a while ago. The director is on the faculty at U of Miami and there are eight paid soloists on staff (I'm one of them), so it sounded pretty good. I then went to a rehearsal (J. left for her place around then as well). Upon getting home I ended up talking on the phone with friends in CA most of the day. Hooray for cell plans with unlimited weekend minutes!
  • Late saturday night my ISP went belly-up. No internet connection until monday morn, thought I was going to have withdrawals. Spent some time with my 7 month old god-son. Worked on some more shopped monkey meetup pics. Played Xbox the new Oddworld game. Read a bit, slept a bit and all the usual stuff.
  • I'm always late, sigh. Saturday night, went out to sons school for talent show dessert night fundraiser, used up entire tolerance for bad folksinging and adolescent poetry. Sunday it was raining, I felt gruesome, think I'm getting the flu or a bad cold or something, so holed up on the couch & watched 6 hours of Upstairs, Downstairs: The Fifth Season. Got up only to let dogs & cats in & out and make borscht. Now it's Monday afternoon, I'm at work, and I still feel gruesome, and, worst of all, I only have two episodes left on my borrowed set of Upstairs Downstairs discs - oh, no, Miss Georgina, not the gray hat!
  • Can't imagine a more appropriate ending, really. It pretty much had to go that way, I think. In short, loved it (and ditto on Stephen). I hope she doesn't succumb to the temptation to write a sequel. The cynic in me is convinced that it would ruin it. Though I've been proven wrong before, just not often.
  • livii, mct: Thirding the love for Norrell & Strange. Did either of you notice the glaring continuity error in the footnotes?
  • I was getting some early Valentine's Day action going in a treehouse. We were there for three glorious days, most of it in the hottub. But now like rolypolyman, I am back to work, at home slaving away.
  • I was out of town late last week for the birth of my first nephew. Sunday I went to the hospital to watch my sister & her hubby take him home. What a punkinhead.
  • rogerd: No, what was it?
  • I discovered that now i am registered monkey the sidebar just got a whole lot cooler. That and watching England lose again. Johnny, the treehouse looks lovely!
  • mct - yeah, that was what I was trying to convey, I think. I mean, my initial reaction was some disappointment, but it was, in truth, perfectly done. rogerd - I did notice that a few times, things seemed off in the footnotes, but I was blazing through the book by the end so I don't quite know what it was (and I'd read the first part quite a while ago, what with school and not wanting the book to end, I read it over the course of three or four months).
  • Mickey: cute punkinhead!
  • *bumps thread, waits patiently for rodgerd's return*
  • new guy, Richer: Hope you two are feeling better.... *small hug*
