Curious Charles.
Trivia question: What couple was together decades ago, married others, split from their spouses, reunited and are wedding the first week in April? Answer: SideDish and her sweetie (April 9) and Prince Charles and Camilla (April 8)! Interesting coincidence, eh? Anyhoo, all you Brit monkeys, how do you feel about Chuck and Cammy finally making it legal?
-
I feel exactly as I did in that other thread! *blows kiss*
-
rats! who would have thunk it, the charles news was lurking in a FPP labled "pants." arg. sorry all, you may now commence congratulating me instead. ha!
-
Well done you. Who cares, Charlie?
-
So does that make you an HRH too Sidey? :) Congrats! I thought ol' Chuck couldn't get married or if he did he couldn't be king - but the radio said he could do both. ?? Dangnable British. So obsequious yet erudite. *urp* *scratch*
-
Sidey, I remember back when you were pining for your sweety to come back from Germany-land or wherever, and you were showing off your ass tatt to strange monkeys! *sniff!* Our little girl's all grown up!
-
Congrats, Miss Dish ... will we have to call you Mrs. Sweetie now?
-
I say we all celebrate by posting pictures of our asses.
-
seconded, mid!
-
we're so happy! hurray for true love!
-
Congrats!
-
Congrats, SideDish! And as for Prince Charlie, I'm quite curious how this marriage might affect the succession. Didn't Edward the somethingth (VII?) abdicate because he married not only a commoner (and an American, egad!), but a divorceé?
-
I'm just happy I no longer pay for the farce. The UK taxpayers should buy the happy couple a big top, so they can take their circus on the road.
-
Congrats, SideDish! As for Chuck and Cammy, I may not be British, but they will be my heads of state. On a personal level, I couldn't really care if they were to wed or not -- my level of attachment to the Canadian royal family ranges from slim to nil. However, the fact that the powers at Westminster simply decided that Cammy is to be the Princess Consort rather than Queen -- Queen of Canada -- is something that sets my republican (small 'r') fires blazing. Let the British settle matters of their head of state. Let us settle ours. Gah. But aside from all that, well done, SideDish!
-
Ah, the article says that she'll be HRH The Princess Consort when Charles accedes to the throne. This is what happens when I neither google to factcheck nor RTFA.
-
i love the Princess Consort thing. makes her sound still a bit naughty somehow...
-
-
Congratulatiuons! And felicitations to Finley!
-
Perhaps it's an in-joke... perhaps not.
-
yup, just a photo of two asses... hee hee
-
Congratulations SideDish! Wishing you a lifetime of joyous ass-tattootery together!
-
I understand why they won't use "Princess of Wales" (though I think it's a stupid and cowardly acquiescence to goofily brainless public sentiment), but what's this "Princess Consort" shit? The wife of a King is a Queen, dammit; The "English Rose" was never a Queen anyway.
-
Oh and Sidedish, April 8 and 9 happen in the SECOND week of April. The first week of any month starts on the 1st and ends on the 7th.
-
Congratulations to you and Mr MainCourse! I think Charles can marry who he likes. I'm not curtseying to the old bat though. Camilla, I mean. *Hurriedly curtseys to Side Dish*
-
ah, big davey, you are correct! we were deciding between the 2nd and the 9th, finally went with the 9th so we could start the festivities at the national cherry blossom festival parade, then marry outside at the jefferson memorial beneath the blossoms.
-
Hey, that sounds beautiful. Wish I could come see. It's also five days before my birthday.
-
I wonder what would happen to the level of interest in royalty in England if the heir reproduced with someone black, who reproduced with someone black.
-
chimaera: I think Mrs. Simpson was the public reason why they made old Ed abdicate the throne, but there's a lot of speculation that the *real* reason he had to abdicate was because he was a big ole' Nazi sympathizer.
-
was othello black, bernockle? can't remember if he was a prince or not...
-
Congrats, you're now the MainDish.
-
I think of her more as a rich dessert.
-
Othello was black in the movie version starring Annette Bening, and he was black in a local production I saw, too. I also own the board game, but that is both black and white. I would like to see the royal family become black. That is all. If Jesus can become white through time, then the royal family can surely do the opposite.
-
Well, Prince Philip is only a prince even though he's married to the Queen - and he was a prince in his own right anyway. Kind of unfair that a woman would take on her husband's title but a man doesn't take on his wife's.
-
Congratulations, SideDish! Have a trivet! Othello was a Moor, as specified in title. So yes, he's black all right.
-
Congratulations, SideDish! The wife of a king traditionally has the title of Queen Consort (e.g. the late Queen Mother), and is never considered a head of state. The husband of a Queen gets the title of Prince Consort (e.g. Philip), presumably because King outranks Queen, and we can't have that because he is not of royal lineage.
-
she'll be HRH The Princess Consort Sidedish may be a Queen, but let's just go straight to old school for Camilla and call her the Royal Concubine.
-
*blows party tooters* Yay for SideDish! Othello likely was black, since he was a Moor. Not a prince, but a military officer; he was sent by the Venetian senate to fight against the Turks.
-
Congratulations to the Royal Couple! But I don't give a rat's rip about Charlie and Cammy.
-
Hey, thanks, Alnedra! posted by party tooters at 07:11PM UTC on February 10 See, that's just wrong.
-
Moops! Moops!
-
congratulations sidedish!!
-
Congratulations, Dishy! The toaster is in the mail
-
Happy for you, I am. good luck SideDish.
-
*runs screaming from the room*
-
So where are you and the Mr. registered? where do monkeys send presents?! and how soon afterwards do we get to see pictures of the two of you under the cherry blossoms?
-
oh patita, you're very sweet but no gifts are necessary; instead we're encouraging donations to local humane societies or animal shelters. and as soon as we have pics we'll put 'em up! *blushing bride*
-
I forgot to say earlier: congrats, SideDish! Stories like yours help when I'm tempted to stop being a big ole' smooshy romantic.
-
Congrats Sidedish! Hope the cherry blossoms open with perfect timing for you and your sweetie. Re Charles & Camilla: After the drubbing they've both been given by the tabloids, I say best of luck to them. Re Othello: There is some controversy among scholars whether Othello was meant to be black (by today's standards of ethnicity) or Arab or both, though popular consensus among average readers and audiences today lean towards the former. Thank you Wikipedia

Bloody hell. They should skip Big ears and crown the prince. Big ears brought sham upon himself already, now he should be moved to the pool house, and the prince should take over. Not the nazi(the desert uniform was just some kind of political protest against the war in Iraq right? If so cool!), the other one. And on that note can we all say a prayer for the pope. As a polish person I've enjoyed extended grace under the present pontif, but now I think the honor will go back to the Italians. I'm sure the mafia will be very happy.

ThroneOut saves you money on a commerative mug by letting you recycle your old Chas and Di one.

As a matter of fact, Rocket88, Prince Philip is not Prince Consort - the Queen has never conferred that title on him. This is presumably because she does not wish him to be her partner in the royal job (as Prince Albert was to Victoria); she has never allowed him to share the job of giving Royal Assent to Acts of Parliament, for example, which Charles has been doing for a long time. The implication of giving Camilla this title is therefore (presumably) that she will be exercising constitutional functions, giving assent to legislation, and all the rest of it. I'm afraid this idea gets up my nose just a little. I'm not saying it's unconstitutional - just bad judgement (and typically egotistical). Isn't it also an atrocious breach of manners and good form for Charlie to be announcing now what he plans to do once his mother's dead? Once again he demonstrates that he may be royal, but he's no gentleman. (Phew - don't know where that came from.)
-
Anyone want to join me in lighting black candles on Nov. 5. this year?
-
Congrats SideDish! Nice one mct, heh heh!
-
Er, no offence, Alnedra. Ahem.
-
No offence taken, Dr Dodger. ... Why are you apologising?
-
I didn't want you to think I was laughing at you. I just thought it was a funny comment by mct...
-
Ah... thick as two bricks, I am. No worries (^_^)
-
Congratulations SideDish. Its wierd that the British monarchy never got abolished. What is it with people and monarchs? I just can't shake the feeling that at some point they're going to start calling people rebellious colonials again. The wedding will probably be good television though.
-
Looks like Charles and Camilla are forced to horn in on your turf, SideDish! That Pope! Always meddling!
