Yes, goetter, one suspects our author may have an axe to grind. Not sure exactly what kind of axe, but not, perhaps not as free of preconceptions as we'd expect to find in a scientist. Matheson's identification of the smaller body does seem to be fairly solid, though I don't see much evidence for the assumption a particular pre-death relationshop existed between the two. Do think it's interesting the gender of the smaller one seems to have been so recently determined.
