A puzzling timewaster - find the text in the images and move through the stages. The first stage or two are easy, but then things start getting tough.
  • If anyone figures out stage 4, do tell.
  • Stuck on stage 4
  • grr, I hate those things on stage 3. can never see them.
  • in internet explorer, stage 4 is easy
  • IE didn't help me with stage 4, but playing with it in photoshop will do it. I don't know if that's cheating or not, but it works.
  • WARNING! Hint on stage four: There are actually two colors in the image. I am stuck on stage 5.
  • ok...got 4, working on 5 ???
  • nope. stage 4 is kicking my butt. in internet explorer. dang.
  • Oh my my. Ok, using photoshop was definately not a cheat. Stage 5 pretty much requires it. Very sneaky, I am impressed thus far. If anyone wants to know how to do stage 5, I'll share, but I don't want to spoil it for anyone.
  • Rather steep difficulty curve. I love that they did that with stage 3, and I was shocked by how abruptly the answer came forth when manipulating the pic from stage 4. Stage 5... calling all cryptographers...
  • Unfortunately, this puzzle is Windows/IE-specific for some of its challenges. I'm on #8 - there's a thumbs.db file, so I'm guessing you're supposed to check what the thumbnail looks like in XP. This is the second time I had to walk to a Windows box to fiddle with things - in short, I am now bored, and posting this note. Not Mac-friendly, for sure. Bleh. It was fun until I started needing Windows, anyway. :-)
  • Ack, now stuck on stage 12. I'm digging up a utility to check EXIF data. If you get rid of the .htm, the image only has 3 unique colors (the green, white and black), so I can't be hidden in there. It is, however, a gif, but I don't see any extra frames in it. Maybe comments per frame? Hmm... I'm stuck good now.
  • gah. Photoshopped the heck out of 5 and still zilch. Maybe I please have a clue? *implores*
  • maybe someone can post clues in rot13, for those of us that want need them
  • Sheesh. If you use IE, you don't need Photoshop for 5. grumblegrumblegrumble.
  • ooh, just got 5
  • Finally finished. Now I can get some sleep.
  • Not a time waster at all. Got number one. Got number two. No chance with number three. I have retired. I can live with those results.
  • I'm hopelessly stuck on #8. I could use some help.
  • stage 4 was easy for me on internet explorer - in opera it was just a blank white square. In ie, you could see the htm address faintly in pink. Using version 6.0.2800.1106, windows 98 SE
  • Number three is a 3D image. To see it in 3D you have to stare at it sort of cross-eyed from about 10 inches away and then slowly let your eyes uncross until the 3D image comes into focus. Your eyes will actually be focusing on two points slightly separated but that will allow the pattern to reveal its 3D secret. Frankly I am still stuck on five. I have only Firefox, and Paint is about the most sophisticated image editor on hand until perhaps late tonight or tomorrow. Any hints from those of you who have already figured this one out?
  • Caddis- selecting the image in IE reveals the letters required; this doesn't happen in Firefox. Seems humans don't find everything.
  • To the creators of this puzzle: Damn you. And damn your 3-D horseshit. I'll waste my time somewhere else.
  • do a web search for the url of the puzzle. There are a couple msgboards that have spoilers for the entire puzzle :)
  • I'm with > Spooky I hate that three dee stuff, and I don't tolerate frustration well.
  • I'm stuck on 13. I'm sure it's so obvious--at the HTM part is. Gah.
  • Savannah - case sensitive :)
  • When you get to the general knowledge questions, I disagree with his answer for the first one. I think the artic ocean is a more correct answer.
