Google Print is in beta.
  • Hasn't it been in beta for quite some time? I'll be waiting for when one can limit search to within books.
  • For whatever reason, I feel like this has been in effect for a while.
  • I would say it has been in beta for at least a year. However, unlike some of the other google betas it doesn't seem to be catching on. I know they got involved in an effort to digitize public domain books at some universities, but I don't think that has born fruit yet. A9.com is pretty good because it has Amazon's "look inside" feature (and you can easilly save the pages is in firefox you go to tools-->page info-->media).
  • In other news, duke nukem forever is still late.
  • And Daikatana sucked.
  • Once they digitize all the public domain books, it will be the world's biggest library. Just like we always dreamed the internet could be. Any ideas when it will come out of beta, or will it do the googlenews beta-forever??
  • Xott, you can use Google to search the Gutenberg Project books here.
  • Well, it was news to me. I'm a little confused though, the help page doesn't make it seem like they're going to have the books online for you to read in their entirity (I just tried Moby Dick and it only let me do three pages).
  • Ummm... am I the only person marginally terrified at Google's unchallenged rise? Between Picasa, Desktop Search, a few acquisitions and going public... I don't know.
  • I for one welcome our new Google overlords.
  • BTW, I don't think that beta at Google means that they are still working on it. I think they only let things out of beta that are clearly "killer apps". Google News for example has will be beta forever because they haven't figured out how to get revenue from it (since it uses content via 'fair use'). Is that true?
