Hopkin Explained.
The resolution of the missing frog story. The news is pretty old, but I didn't see it mentioned in the original link, and a search didn't bring it up. The details are probably not what you'd expect.
-
Nice. Wonder if its true. Good post
 -
This is great. A whole whack of people who didn't know much about autism now have a better grasp of how the mind of an autistic person works differently from their own - all thanks to an excellently goofy green frog. The Overlord works in mysterious ways! Yay!
 -
dirigibleman, your first link is provided by homunculus within that same MoFi thread. In that thread, goetter also linked a follow-up by someone else. I thought it was interesting to hear about the different responses from the mom and the dad. (Mom seemed more open to concern/interest in her son's story, Dad more suspicious.)
 -
Wow, and with the same words, too. How'd I miss that?
 -
PS I'll find my frog link
 -
dng: it's true, I spoke to Terry's dad on the phone. For some reason the meme is self-resurrecting, my site traffic has been growing all day.
 -
This makes me sad. All the emotional energy invested in the frog, and now it's forgotten. I hope someone is looking after the frog in blissful ignorance of this whole thing.
 -
And, Moneyjane, if your headache is better, please go and update your blog. The suspense is killing me.

My wife noticed how good a job he did, drawing that frog from memory, complete with front and side views. She also loved bees's frog poem in the original thread and asked me to say thanks.
 -
I think it's sad that dad won't let the kid have his frog, especially after he went to all the effort to try to find Hoppy.
 -
I want a "Hopkin Has a Posse" sticker.

I'd still like to find that frog. With such a rich tale behind it, with such public interest in the story, the fact that it was a limited edition giveaway toy to begin with, I'm sure it'll make for a good appearance years down the line on Antiques Roadshow.
