Yaaaayy! SpongeBob receives 'unequivocal welcome' from United Church of Christ. Rev. John H. Thomas, the UCC's general minister and president, also takes the opportunity to slap radical cleric James C. Dobson around with his own Christian morals. (Follow up to this post.)

  • This is good to see, but it won't get the headlines and airplay of the Dobson story. One nutbar is equivalent to one million rational people in the eyes of the news media.

  • meredithea- that's easily the best part. i was already considering attending a ucc service this weekend (cautiously dipping my toe back in the christian pool), and seeing that picture alone makes me feel better about it.

  • The sad thing is that this whole debacle has even generated any debate AT ALL. If people would just accept Dobson for the moran (int. misp.) that he is, then this would not ever had been necessary.
