Beautiful QT Muppet Movie
Words fail me.
Words fail me.
-
good god. that is peculiar and oh-so-lovely..
-
That had to be CGI. Odd how we have gotten to a point with computer animation and are using it to model puppets, with their strange, non-lifelike movements. Artifice copying artifice.
-
It's like a cuddly nightmare. Kinda Tim Burton. I like it.
-
That was awesome!
-
wow! If you don't care for this you are probably very sane and boring! Good link...thanks! Made my day, and, given the events of the day...sigh...that's saying something!
-
Glorious. Thank you forks, made my day too. Anyone know where I can get hold of the music? Both my google- and amazon-fu are failing me...
-
Kudos forks! This is for you: ))) I did wonder about something in the movie, though. SPOILER SPACE for those who haven't yet watched: Why were they shaving the guy? If he were dead, what purpose would that serve?
-
1. They loved him? 2. It was something to do? 3. They're sick twisted puppets?
-
ooga.... Ok, let's talk about the "Why were they shaving the guy?" question...... are you REALLY asking for a logical reason for an activity performed by computer generated puppet frogs (?) in a fanatasy world in which they evidently live with and cavort with dead people? But...you're right...in the REAL dead person/frog/puppet/fantasy world that would NEVER happen! :)
-
that was simply lovely.
-
I get the love thing - it's implied that the guy is their creator/puppeteer, so they have a history together. No explanation as to why the puppets are now ambulatory and fully animated (ha!) is offered, which is fine. So the puppets are now helping ol' papa to continue with his quotidian activities, I suppose, but if you shave the dead they will only grow more undead whiskers!!! Feh, I seem to have lost whatever semblance of a point I had. /thinking too much
-
Monkeyfilter:They're sick twisted puppets
-
aha this is where all the tedious bastards on monkeyfilter hang out! if you don't care for that you are probably very sane and boring. oooh the condecension is killing me darling!
-
Is that really dead Jim Henson? I'm frightened and confused.
-
omfg. that's brilliant, i love it.
-
Does that music have a name? Googling the description they give does not appear fruitful.
-
Awesome! That's a great little movie.
-
my google-fu is apparently working... try this... http://www.britishacademy.com/members/ornadel.htm The Silberman Orchestra is possibly the song title? or benedict silberman? try that...
-
Nah, the Silberman Orchestra is, surprise, another orchestra. No title to be found.
-
My googlefu has failed me. I got bubkes.
-
They are celebrating or denying the death of their creator.
-
It's Jim Henson...and there's deffo a twisted 'Scissorhands' thing going on, in my opinion. The music does make want to do a silly dance, though...Fab.
-
carfilhiot ..... did you misplace your sense of humor?
-
It doesn't look like Jim Henson.
-
Of course not, he's been shaved...
-
Yousa point is well seen.
-
Fab!
-
Undead whiskers -- that would be a great name for a band -
I'm not positive he's dead. Maybe all his actions, and all our actions, are from unseen puppets manipulating us like we're puppets. Maybe when I'm typing, there's really four or five invisble frog puppets that keep on picking up my fingers, forcing my body to put on a charade of life. Or maybe it's just hard for creatures that have never been alive to comprehend death. I'm not high. Really. But I have been up all night typing an essay for philosophy
-
i don't get it. Can i go back to pr0n now? ooh wallace and gromit!
-
I'm with Mr. Knickerbocker. I figured the fellow was infirm in his old age, and the muppets were taking care of him (muppet home health care, now that's a thought). explains why he'd need to be shaved, eat, etc. also explains the spectacular finish, as it were.
-
I've got it! The puppets are celebrating freedom from their creator. At the end, they even have a seder at which he's displayed as their puppet. ooh, this is so deep I'm scaring myself with my own brilliance.
-
Those looked like cloned muppets, not real muppets.
-
According to my parents, the music is a famous Yiddish song entitled "Shein vi de levana" (excuse the transliteration) - "Beautiful like the moon." Googling for "beautiful like the moon" Yiddish turns up a few matches, but the only one with audio seems to be this one, where you can hear that the first few notes do match.
-
This version is longer, with credits. I loved it so much I had to rip it to my HD so's I can just bring it up as often as I like.
-
thanks mct... the added bits make it much better (and it was already quite good).
