What Do Michael Chertoff and Alberto Gonzales Have In Common? Well, they both are lawyers. They both went to Harvard. They both have been nominated for top Bush cabinet positions. Oh, and they both are advocates for torture.
  • As long as we get to see the naked cheer leaders, we'll support anyone.
  • Wasn't Heinrich Himmler available?
  • Just Goebbels
  • wait, did we just Godwin this?
  • They both went to Harvard. Those lousy ivy league elitist liberals.
  • that nobody knows who the hell they are?
  • "Chertoff headed the Justice Department's criminal division from 2001 to 2003, where he played a central role in the nation's legal response to the Sept. 11 attacks..." Forgive my terrible ignorance, but your nation's legal response to Sept. 11 - what, exactly, did it consist of, again?
  • It consisted of giving law enforcement more power to monitor who comes into the country and more power to keep track of those already here. It consisted of passing laws to make it easier for the government to search, seize, and stop those who are suspected of terrorism. It consisted of figuring out ways to hold terrorists who have not yet broken any laws but who are likely to commit very serious acts against society.
  • You forgot raping the Bill of Rights
  • I was actually trying to remember the details of their impressive record of bringing terrorists to justice, but... ah, never mind. It was a passing fancy, a breeze in the night. It is gone. I suspect it mattered little.
  • We haven't been attacked since 9/11. So obviously, they're doing a fantastic job. Measuring by that yardstick, I'd say they're also doing a fantastic job of protecting us from Earth-shattering asteroid impacts, extraterrestrial invasions and from being overrun by the mutant menace.
