Israeli McDonald's Pulp Fiction 'McShuarma' commercial (download) Now, people, I hate McDonalds, because I think the food sucks. But I grokk this Pulp Fiction spoof, cos it's good. Download from the link provided above, click here to watch it. Dead-on Jackson & Travolta impersonations. .MPG format.

The punchline is this: Israeli people are not known for their politeness. /eyebrows raised Get me?

  • It's ok if they goof on themselves. :^)
  • Now they have to make one for the Dutch market on fries with mayonaise. (Full disclosure: I'm Dutch.)
  • It's ok if they goof on themselves. :^) From humour comes wisdom! (Full disclosure: my great grandfather was Jewish - even tho' I go on about my Celtic blood a lot!!!) So I can criticise Israel? No, unfortunately it don't work like that :|
  • The guy doing Travolta was pretty good tho, huh?
  • Nos, one really gets the Travolta impersonation during the voice over at the end... the actor pours his Vince Vega on something fierce then. Still... they both delved into my "uncanny" radar. And making fun of Israelis is very different than making fun of Jews. The former is like making fun of any country (Freedom fries?), the latter just always ends up being too close to a Godwin call (disclaimer: mother is Jewish, dad a "who the hell knows"). My favorite joke is about Jewish mothers and they are the only ones that get it.
  • As someone who spent three years studying in Israel, I can tell you that it's true - Israelis (for the most part) don't say please. It's simply not how they speak. Some might call it rude, but it's really more of a "rough around the edges" vibe. I laughed at that line in the commercial.
  • I'm waiting for a commercial on the Dennis Hopper/Christopher Walken riff from True Romance.
  • Hah! Definitely not for the Canadian market.
