Curious George: Free service to host MP3's for download
I have a low traffic blog and would like to occasionally offer MP3's for download.
I am not actually entering the music blog world, but sometimes there are songs or sound files that compliment my topic dejour. Someone told me once about a free hosting service that would allow for limited downloads (like 25) depending on file size. But I can't remember the name, and my google-fu fails me. Any suggestions? Free is the key word.

Last month I saw someone use YouSendIt to host an MP3 for download. It's primarily for sending large files, but apparently they host them for a short period as well. May not be what you're looking for, but it's worth a look, I suppose.

YSI has a 25-download limit, and is probably what you were thinking of. It's technically for use with e-mail; just stick your own e-mail address in the recipient field, and you'll get the URL you need.

A lot of the hip hop mp3 blogs forks linked to use YSI.

Thanks guys, I am pretty sure that's the right service. I'll check it out.

Doesn't Dropload essentially do the same thing?

kim: what, you don't wanna ask the Don? Yeah, yousendit or dropload should work fine. You could also ask your friendly uncle tofu. Or just shell out the nine bucks a month that a racknine account costs. For just pennies a day...

Dropload only lets you download once. They charge $1 to resend.

Forks... you were at work. You are the one that originally told me about YouSentIt, but I couldn't remember the name. And I just had to get the post up last night. My public, you know. YouSendIt worked perfectly, and I didn't even have to register or anything. Thanks, all!
