Fifty ways To Eat Your Ramen ...more people really into Ramen. Includes Ramen poetry and Caramel Ramen on a Stick! Blame it all on Momofuku Ando.

I ate mine tonight with lemon juice and Patak's Tikka Curry Paste. I'm thinking turkey flavour Ramen stir-fried with cranberry sauce and brussel sprouts for Christmas dinner! Delicious!

  • ramen means "noodle" in Japanese
Actually 'men' means 'noodles'; 'ramen' means noodles made in a 'Chinese' style.
  • My current favorite economical ramen: (a MoFi exclusive) Prepare a packet of Maruchan Chili Flavor ramen (the cheap stuff, in the States at least). Drain most of the water, leaving a little bit (the idea is to have enough to make a kind of sauce with the flavor packet). Add the flavor packet and a little bit of cayenne powder. Add some Spike brand seasoning (optional; only available in the States I think -- a bit of garlic powder also works well). Add grated parmesan. Serve! (with chopsticks of course, there's no other way to properly eat ramen.) It's deliciously spicy, and has the whole pasta vibe due to the parmesan. And the whole thing costs like twenty cents. Also, that guy at the top of the page who recommends Nong Shim brand "Shin Ramyun" flavor isn't kidding. That stuff is good (although a little expensive)...
  • myeon also means noodle in korean (and i'm assuming it is from the chinese language as modern ramyeon is an adaptation from a chinese noodle dish). a simple and nice addition to any ramyeon recipe is dropping an egg or two into the boiling broth. u can stir it up or let it boil whole. i prefer the latter.
  • Uhmyang - the Chinese is 拉面 la mian meaning roughly 'noodles pulled out by hand', though actually they call the instant stuff 方便面 fangbian mian = convenience noodles on the Mainland or 泡面 pao mian "noodles you soak" in Taiwan. Just showing off really. :)
  • My grocery store stopped carrying the expensive Japanese ramen (I think it was about a dollar) that I loved. Damn. I used to make it according to the directions and add some frozen peas and sliced green onion at the end, it made it taste like fancy restaurant-type ramen. I miss it.
  • Ooh, the green onion is always good in ramen!
