Hmm.. I wonder if I need to wear a jacket, today? - If only there were some handy dandy web helper thingy to help me work this out.
  • Wow! They should do one for underpants too! Wait. Wrong thread?
  • Finally! All of life's problems solved.
  • Only those in major metropolitan areas need apply. I tried the three colleges I have attended and none showed up, let alone the small town of 200 people I grew up in. I guess only people who live in cities are too dumb to figure out these things themselves! :P
  • YES Why? Because: it's frickin' FREEZING!
  • My city does NOT count as a major metropolitan area (panama city, fl) and it shows up. I should wear a jacket "because it's not very warm out." Truth!
  • Is this a joke? Or just stupid?
  • Wow. My mother has just been made redundant.
  • for those "who don't have the sense to come in from the cold"? this seems like something that one of Dr. Oliver Sacks patients would need.
  • No! It's 60F and sunny.... (So glad I moved from Boston to SF)
  • Jackets? We don't need no steenking jackets. shivering in the wind Oh. Obviously we do. Thanks DoIneedajacket.com!!
  • This is going to TOTALLY blow peeking one's head out the door out of the water.
  • so i asked about london and it said "no" and then i realized that i was thinking london, england and the thingy said new london south africa. and then i realized secondly that i live in michigan so it wouldn't have helped me to know if londoners need a jacket in the first place. my method is to use "The Window". right now The Window is showing "Overcast and Snow". so yes, i need a jacket.
  • well the site said that I (in oakland, ca) do not need a jacket today, but I do not agree. we have been having an unusual cold spell here in the bay area. hell, I am wearing wool socks right now (but no underwear!! heeheehee)
  • Bah! No Beijing. Still, all the old grannies who hang out in the yard always comment on whether I'm wearing enough for the weather, so I'm getting sound advice anyhow.
  • I wonder if the Los Angeles page is really dynamic or just a static page reading "No," like when Steve Martin was the weatherman in LA Story. (Actually, we did have quite a cold spell by LA standards a few weeks ago and I actually DID need a jacket for the first time in a few years.)
  • The "window" method can be misleading, and when the "door" method involves walking downstairs and out the front door of the building, this is actually pretty useful. Or maybe I'm just a lazyass.
  • Outside? What the hell is outside?
  • is the dog method no longer popular?
  • I find that both the Window and the Door method fail at times, so I've taken to using the Call the Neighbor on his cell phone method (he leaves for work 15 minutes before I do).. but this web site, what can I say, it just, just...well, sucks is a good word.. it doesn't even list jacket info for the cities it lists...
  • Fuck. I live in Wilmington, NC, and there are no results. I have to leave here soon, and I have no idea whether I should wear a jacket or not. Perhaps I should just stay here. Help me, someone.
  • How did they know I needed a jacket in Memphis? This is uncanny!
  • Door so close, but computer so much closer. Thanx doineedajacket! Now all I need is an isittimetodrinkyet. "what is your time zone?" "Pacific" "Yes you should drink. Why? Becuase it's only 11 in the morning, and if you're asking, you probably need one."
  • Bernockle, you need a jacket. and a hat. but that just makes you look dapper.
  • Tip: You can't enter the state along with the city. My search for Honolulu, HI was giving me no results. Luckily, I figured out that I should've dropped the ", HI" and just search for "Honolulu". Otherwise, I might not have ever found out if it was cold outside.
  • "No," is says. But it's -1 and snowing in Montreal right now... So if you don't mind I take this advice with a grain of salt.
  • That's minus 1 in Celsius of course. Fahrenheit is so unscientific.
  • monkeyfilter: old grannies who hang out in the yard
  • Looks like the threshold is <= 60F, from my experimenting.
  • OK, so I take it back. Indeed, if you leave off the state, it does have Bloomington, IN, Muncie, IN and Bowling Green, OH. It still doesn't have my hometown of Napoleon, IN, though!
  • After clicking on the fourth link, it finally told me I did in fact need a jacket. If you use firefox, there is a handy little plugin called forecast fox that puts a little weather bar on your browser, which will also tell you if you need a jacket. I love it.
  • The available locations are based on airports. If you can't find you city, try the name of your nearest airport. For example, St. Louis doesn't return any matches (because of the period) but Lambert does. I like this post
  • Hey! Usefulness born of silly! I might actually use Forecastfox. (More for "is it going to snow/rain frogs today" than "is it cold.") Thanks, DrPresAmerica.
  • Mare, I thought that Montrealers didn't need a jacket until the temperature dropped to at least -10 celsius. You're not like those wimpy Torontonians who reach for the jackets when it's below +15. BTW, why doesn't this differentiate between 'jacket' and 'parka'? You'd have frelling frozen with a jacket in Ontario yesterday.
  • Yay for teh internets! Now I can email this link to my son, 5 miles away at home, and he can check it before he goes outside, and maybe he will wear his jacket! (and yay for mr. knickerbocker, who figured it out for me; I was all set to be gloomed out at the exclusion of Asheville, but we're there.) Or maybe not. Now if only I could send him to: dothedishesbeforeyouleavethehousekidorsuffermywrath.com
