Sort-Of Pseudo LA Meetup I would like to meet you all (features ulterior motive!)

OK, so I'm not sure if I can quite get away with this but: I've never been able to make any of the LA meetups, and I would honestly like to meet some of you folks. I would like to meet you tomorrow, Saturday, 12/11 at midnight at the Improv Olympic at 6366 Holywood Blvd. (near Caheunga) Catch: the occasion is a sketch comedy show for which I am writer/director. It is a free show, and it should be pretty good, our previous show was well-recieved. Also there is a full bar at the theatre. The show is called "Happy Ending," I answer to the real name of Ryan. We are kind of inpsired by "Monty Python" or "Mr Show," alhtough not necessarily that good. Parking is a bitch at that hour, so I would reccomend getting there a bit early. There's a valet outside the theatre at Cosmo + Hollywood which is $4 with validation. So I know I am pushing the line here as far as self-promotion. If this is deemed acceptable, I'll see you there. If this post is deleted, well then I guess I'll see you in hell.

  • Crap, I'm going to be in Hollywood tomorrow, but it's to see and meet up with a band I'm going to be reviewing. I don't suppose any other LA-area Monkeys are goths who might be interested in meeting up at Bar Sinister?
  • Any goths come to my show instead- who needs a good laugh more than goths, I ask?
  • Ordinarily I would love to get to either of those, but I am a couple hours north of you and 'tis the season for free booze. C'est la vie.
  • Let the competition begin...
  • Oh, no competition! What I meant was show up to Bar Sinister after the comedy show. I can't, because I'm supposed to see the band, who'll probably be going on at about 11:30 or so, but other people theoretically could.
  • That sound like a plan: laugh, then cry. (hey, I think I got another one for that tagline thread...)
  • Darn it! I'd love to do both, but I've got previous plans. And Bar Sinister is lots of fun. *pout*
  • A side note: I will be in San Diego for a couple of weeks starting on Christmas Day, and am planning to go to LA for a couple of days around the 28th-29th. For the record.
  • there.
  • This little LA monkey has three final exams this week. Sigh. Have fun and take pics if you can.
  • So how'd it go? Any monkeys in attendance?
  • I did not see any Monkeys, but then again i dont know what they look like. So thanks to anyone who did come out. The show? Frankly, ehhhhhh. Not bad but sloppy and slow-paced, and there were some technical problems. It was a good crowd though, almost full. Our first show last month was much better. We are doing one per month (all new material each time), so the next one is 1/29/05.
  • here is some video from the first show if anyone's interested... [.wmv files]* Dark Side of the Sketch The Amazing Goliaths *the iris was messed up on one camera so its a bit bright in places
  • Another show is coming up tomorrow (today), well Saturday the 29th anyway at 11:59PM at the Improv Olympic, 6366 Hollywood Blvd. Good comedy for free and full bar if anyone wants to swing by... the show is called "Happy Ending."
  • I swear I'm going to go to one of these Improv shows someday, if only because I love all things free. Thanks for the invitation.
  • Technically it is a scripted show, although the theatre has Improv in the name. We had kind of a small crowd today so I will be back schilling next month, you best believe. I appreciate your future support.
