Chattering with monkeys
is possible finds Dr. Atsushi Iriki.
Earlier work by Dr. Sue Savage-Rumbaugh showed that bonobos could be taught to speak simple English using voice synthesisers but Dr. Iriki's work allows the monkeys to choose their own calls. He hopes this will help him learn about monkey thought and about the origins of language in humans. His work has garnerered him the marvellously titled Golden Brain Award.

Why is a dentist working on talking to monkies?
-
I know I know - read the article. Tangentially related to the Golden Brain Award, the first prize award every week on my favorite TV show is a golden brain. With a melon pan in it.

A dentist interested in pain eh, Mexican? I've been to a few of them in my time. I googled 'monkey thought' in the hopes of finding some great political credo for us all, but only came up with this, which I wish I'd added now.
