Spalding Gray is Missing.
The monologuist hasn't been seen since Sunday. Phone home Spalding!
-
Sad. Sorry.
-
He's always got such a a great way to tell stories - everytime I see one of the movies or him live I think "I should do that". I wonder how much of it is just thinking out loud and how much of it is carefully planned. Hopefully they'll find him okay - maybe in a spider hole . . or a waffle house.
-
he's swimming to cambodia.
-
Maybe he got into the time machine that spit out this post and is currently hanging out in the beginning of the week. Plus I bet Jorn Barger knows where he is.
-
Also, James Lawrence, guitarist for Hope of the States, was found dead today, having hung himself. Terrible news.
-
he's swimming to cambodia. extremely cruel... and funny. Nice! I do feel sad for him. I though he was as cheerful as he appeared to be in his monologues. I'll miss him.
-
deeply distressing. don't write him off already, please. please. please.
-
Agreed.
-
Yup - I keep watching the CNN story - it's updated every day at least.
-
Still nothing.
-
John Perry Barlow remembers. *sigh*
-
That is a touching piece of writing. Like everyone says, I hope it's not his eulogy.
-
I haven't heard "Monster in a Box" in a long time.
-
I'm sure I was one of thousands who had the chance to help Spalding Gray, and my interaction with him was so brief that he wouldn't remember it now, in Nirvana, or a klesha, or sitting on a beach by the Indian Ocean. But I had a chance to help and I either did nothing or worse than nothing, depending on how you count someone's tears. The last line of Swimming to Cambodia is "I suddenly thought I knew what killed Marilyn Monroe." I've known for years what killed Spalding Gray.

thaks for that link, petebest. it's a hell of an article.
-
Thanks pete. Although, I think the guy's being a little hard on himself.
-
Thanks, pete. It's nice to have a bit of an oral history to the guy.
-
i still miss him
-
Sighs.

BearGuy, interesting that you have uncovered a comment by ethylene, lucid and relevant not long before her...well I don't even know what to call it. I hope the subject matter of this thread is not too specific to her state of mind???
-
Yeah, what she said.
