The Gorilla Comic Cover Index
- Ok, the guy indexes every comic cover he can find that includes a picture of an ape or gorilla. Quite a collection.
-
At some point some statistics showed comics with gorillas on the cover sold well. So during the reign of DC editor Julius Schwartz there were tons of DC comics with apes on the covers. I just couldn't let a Gorilla Comic Cover Index get by without someone sharing that.
-
This cover features Tarzan with a (mostly) fantastic set of animals, which is truer to Burroughs' imagined creation than the Hollywood style Tarzan. Hollywood-Tarzans are so unlike the Tarzan which Burroughs created that they re always a crushing disappointment.
-
Somebody get this guy in contact with Frank Cho, stat!
-
Dig it! Another gorilla cover collection. I'm charmed by Jimmy Olsen's predeliction for gorilla encounters. Who's tougher? Superman, or a fearsome gorilla?
-
Ironic that gorillas were always portrayed as so vicious - they're the among the least aggressive of the great apes (although silverbacks will display & charge impressively). Even Chimps are far more likely to attack than a gorilla. Only Orangs, I think, are more docile.
