Surrealist Kazimierz Dzyga: highlights of his career
  • Bees-- I'm getting an Error Notice--"Can't Connect To Server" message when I click your link. Is it me?
  • Not to be hateful, but I hope it's just you...I'm still connecting to both links, i can't imagine why you're not.
  • It's not me.
  • Me neither. I love this! Thanks, Bees!
  • Dang! I'm using Safari with my Mac OSX.2. Mebee 'tis a mAc thing?
  • Ah. Googled Mr. D and went through a french site to see his stuff... Tres Luscious, non?
  • Dunno, Dizzy, but could it make a subject sometime for Curious, George?
  • I'm not really getting the surrealist aspect of this gear. Looks like something you'd paint on the side of a panel van to me. Which is fine, but not the same thing.
  • Glad you got through, Diz. I am often enchanted by surrealist art and writing. (My previous comment referred to the Mac/Safari post -- seems like tech questions would get excellent answers with so many computer-knowledgeable monkeys.)
  • Wolof, this has some info and links concerning surrealism. Salvador Dali and Max Ernst were very likely the best-known surrealist painters of the early days, which later left an imprint on SF book covers and album covers, too, way back in the days of vinyl. Like every once-new movement, surrealism aged, becoming so familiar many of us hardly regard it as unusual, so your comment about van panels, Wolof, is right on the mark.
  • I want to see a panel van with something one tenth as good as a Max Ernst on the side of it. Just saying he's close to being my favourite painter/ sculptor is all.
  • Also, Bees, a link on surrealism that doesn't mention Apollinaire??
  • *seizes fistful of dust and drops it atop head* Helas! And mea culpa.
  • I know a guy called Kazimierz. It's Polish for "Bowl of cabbage soup".
  • Can we say "bowl of cabbage soup" on TV? What about in France?
