The Art Car Weekend (also here) is a big deal in my hometown of Houston. I didn't know about the Art Car Klub, but I used to live in walking distance from the Art Car Museum. Art cars are thick enough on the ground in Houston that you just see them driving around, particularly in the Heights and Montrose. My favorite art car ever is the Yellow Submarine (scroll down), which is owned by a friend of my husband's. He was kind enough to drive us away from our April Fool's wedding in it.

I looove art car weekend in Houston! My favorite's from year's past: a VW covered with pennies, another covered with ties, or framed in wrought iron a sedan covered with pink feathers, or the ones that are completely transformed into something else entirely. There was this one guy in a leisure suit who rode in the parade in a motorized sofa. And of course: Camera Van. Then there's always a whole section of lowriders that are AMAZING. The Art Car Museum in Houston also has some great exhibits.
