"the best sci-fi action requires you to think."
Primer is exceedingly intriguing. It invites comparisons to Pi and Memento and (most appropriately) 2001. Confounding, obtuse, and stunningly enjoyable.
We're going to see it for the second time tonight. I hope it's as good as The Usual Suspects was on the second pass.

I've been telling people what a good movie Primer is, and that I'm going to see it again as soon as I get a chance. Turns out, the day I saw it was the last day it played anywhere within 30 miles of me. I hadn't realized it was such a limited release. Here is the list of theaters it is playing at in the upcoming weeks. Leave enough time to see it twice, since they don't go out of their way to make it comprehensible in one go.

Aw man. They're not coming back to San Francisco. I would've been all over this.

I'm with you, Daniel.

Well, damn, that's fascinating. No British release date yet. Bugger. Sounds like exactly the sort of cerebral, intricate, mcguffinalicious treat that makes me happy they invented cinema. The site's not loading for me - I'm getting all my info from IMDb - does anybody want to be slightly less enigmatic about the film, or would that spoil it? Seriously, I want to know, or at least know that I don't want to know. I have to work out if it's worth adding to my (as yet intangible) campaign to have The Brown Bunny released in the UK. Sounds great.

It is a low budget movie about a couple of friends who invent a time-travel machine. They try to use it wisely, but problems arise. It is confusing, but in that fun, 'wait, now I know what's going on' kind of way. Primer -> time-travel movies : 28 Days Later -> zombie movies

Primer -> time-travel movies : 28 Days Later -> zombie movies Yes, except that Primer is actually good.. (Sorry for those of you who liked 28 Days Later. Not sorry if I offended you.. Just sorry that you liked that stupid movie.)

Scartol: "there IS accounting for tastes, damnit! MINE make sense and YOURS don't!" On a related note that website appears to be down.
