Win a Date With Curious George: Okay, I haven't been out as part of a couple since my ex-marriage started falling apart, and I've got two tickets to a screening tomorrow of Johnny Depp's "Finding Neverland".

Now, all the nicest folks I've met in the last year (female and male) were at MeFi or MoFi Meetups, but how do I choose one over the others? Should I send out a series of emails and embarass myself privately? No, I'll post it here (and at AskMe) and humiliate myself in front of all the internets. DETAILS: The showing is at the famous Chinese Theater in Hollywood at 7:30PM, but "please arrive early! Seats are not guaranteed..." This is NOT a big deal premiere; I won the tickets for being a subscriber to Entertainment Weekly Magazine. Meet me there OR I'll drive you in my very ugly car if you live within 20 miles of Hollywood or my location in Van Nuys. You will definately get home in time to go to work the next day. No further obligation; I'll deny any on-line rumors that we're an item (if you REALLY want me to). Females prefered but required. I may also consider an L.A. based MoFite I haven't met in RealLife yet. The Wendell's decision will be semi-final. Runners-up who are good sports will be considered for future free tickets I get. Just tell me why you want to see this movie and why you are NOT ashamed to be seen in public with Wendell. Nothing in this offer should be construed as an ego trip on my part. This posting has been approved by my psychotherapist, who said "Have fun!"

  • I would, but I live in Texas. That, and Wednesday is Scrabble night.
  • I'd go with you but Scotty is refusing to answer my calls for a 'beam me up'
  • Take 'em all & have an orgy.
  • I'd go, but I live in Canada. Let us know if it's a good movie. I'm really interested in it, but also sort of scared it'll suck.
  • I'm thinking that even if it's not a great movie on it's own, Depp will save it from sucking to badly.
  • Sadly, it seems to be all Depp does these days: saving bad movies from total suckage.
  • I don't care. I'd watch Johnny Depp sit in a chair for two hours watching TV. I'd go with you, Wendell, but I'm a hermit and only watch the occasional video.
  • Have fun, wendell!
  • PatB: sadly, I think he stated in an interview that he doesn't own a TV.
  • I don't know if thats all he does. I think in some cases, like Pirates, the movie is average, but Depp just outshines everything around him. Without him, Pirates would have been a so-so movie, with him I loved it. If I ever have a son I'm naming him Jack.
  • Sorry, I kind of de-railed the thread.
  • It's okay, humandic, obviously, nobody (within the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area) loves me. *pouts* :-< so, liv, do they allow polygamy up there in Canada? I get out of this country, and you'll get occasional free movie passes :-/
  • You might have had more luck if your AskMefi question hadn't been deleted. Bummer. You should rewrite it as an LA meetup for MeTa: "Meet me in LA! One lucky girl!" etc. As consolation, I'd totally be down for a Johnny Depp movie with you; I'd even buy the popcorn and bucket 'o sugary carbonated beverage. But, geography prevails. And I'm married, so, you know. :)
  • so, trac, do they allow polygamy down there in Kiwiland? I get out of this country, and you'll get occasional free movie passes :-/
  • Is going to see the movie on your own an option? I've done that more often recently, though admittedly not at night. Maybe you could get a nice sum for the extra pass? I love going to the movies, and biopics too. Two questions: Is it necessary to dress up? Does tomorrow mean Wednesday night or Thursday night? I can't imagine why anyone should be ashamed to be seen in public with you, wendell. You seem to have quite the fandom here and elsewhere. Give it a few more hours and then you can make all of us who are interested compete in a trivia test for a ticket.
  • It's still Tuesday in Hollywood, so the preview is Wednesday (or Wendellsday, as I say while ego-trip). If you have to ask, I wonder if you're not in the right time zone. And, as I said, it's not a Premiere, just a Preview, but it is at the Hollywood Chinese theater, where I haven't been since they made it a multiplex. Haven't heard from anybody from the L.A. meetup. I'd be suspecting squidranch has mandyman and Space Kitty tied and gagged in his basement, except nobody in Southern California has basements.
  • Grauman's Chinese Theater is a MULTIPLEX? That fukkin sucks, man. I was gonna fly out and go with you, too.
  • Sometimes I feel less than certain about what people mean by yesterday or tomorrow in a post beneath a certain date in bold red letters that doesn't match my time zone. Maybe I misread this. Good luck.
  • Well, out in Bountiful, B.C. they do...but we're hoping they shut that down. Even for tolerant, polite Canadians, polygamy's a little beyond the pale. ;) And on the derail, yeah, I'd watch Depp doing his freakin' taxes. So long as he's wearing kohl. Oh yes. Oh yes indeed.
  • Actually, it was his trunk. But everything is better now, I've learned my lesson about questioning the man who ranches squid. I don't think I can go Wendell, though it does sound tempting. I do like the freelicious offers.
  • I guess it's too late to hope a plane, Wendell, but put me on your list for next time. *flutters eyelashes
  • hop, I meant HOP /wishful thinking
  • BlueHorse, please hope me!
  • Gee, too bad flashboy isn't closer. I'm thinkin' he'd dress drag for a free Depp viewing! ;-> Anyhoo, add in the ticket down to LA and I'm soooo going with ya! And, hellllooooo who wouldn't want to be seen with Wendell!! Sheesh!
  • Even for tolerant, polite Canadians, polygamy's a little beyond the pale. shh don't let the people of Creston here you say that ;)
