Curious George: MoFi CD Swap playlists?
As someone who wanted to participate in the CD swap, but didn't have the chance/means to, and also someone who wants to know about new music/what other monkeys are listening to, I was wondering if the people that did participate could post the tracklists here. Reviews of tracks optional, but welcome.
I know some of them are up on the CD Swap board, but not all, and I figured this would just be a more organized/easier way to do it in general. Also- feel free to talk about new bands/music in addition to the CD stuff. Me, I've been into kaki king, earlimart, bearsuit, and Pedro the Lion lately, and also have been trying to learn more about older/world music.

I took part in the most recent CD swap for the novelty of it even though I'm not much of a music listener. But individual artists occasionally excite me - Kaki King is one, and I can't wait to see her live, hopefully next week.

This is excellent. I'd really like to be in the next CD swap... Keep the playlists coming!
-
how does a monkey get in on the swap? I emailed Shotsy(?) from the cdx page about a week ago, and have heard nothing - it's not very intuitive how to get involved...
-
shotsy will probably make a post on MoFi inviting people to join a couple of weeks beforehand. Did you email him at the reddoor (or whatever it is) address?
-

Monkeys are partial to indie music, it seems. I for one think we need Monkeyfilter messenger bags to go with our new t-shirts. Here's my mix from swap number one: My Monkey Girl-Opening Theme-Dreams Come True Sha-La Love You Lancelot Link & The Evolution Revolution Love The One You're With-Aretha Franklin Monkey Time/Dancing In The Streets-Laura Nyro/Labelle A Minha Menina-The Bees Paniots Nince-Joe Maneri It's Got To Be Love-Sarah Vaughan Old Fashion Morphine-Jolie Holland Manhattan Avenue-Nellie McKay Jealous Guy-Donny Hathaway Eleanor Rigby-Aretha Franklin Nervous Wreck-Call And Response I Feel For You-Prince What's Happening Brother-Marvin Gaye The Weight-Aretha Franklin Portland Oregon-Loretta Lynn/Jack White Everything Is Everything-Phoenix Vine St.-Harry Nilsson You're No Rock 'n Roll Fun-Sleater-Kinney Monkey Gone To Heaven-Pixies It was a fight between a couple of themes (monkeys and covers gone soul), plus other stuff I couldn't get out my head at the time.
-
like to get involved in a swap. I did a mini one with another monkey awhile back, here is the back cover with the titles - I'm too lazy to type them all out again. It was hard coming up with a list of songs and making a nice transition from genre to genre. Think I did a pretty good job, I never received complaints about bleeding ears (mine didn't bleed either) so must be a good thing ... heh
-
What is this magical swap technology you describe, and can I use this to get rid of some old Duran Duran tapes?
-

-
I'm going to have to buy a new burner in time for the next one. I don't know most of these bands, and I can contribute some non-indie goodness. Oh, and I wanna be in The Engineer's Monkey's group.
-
I want to be in The Engineer's Monkey's group too. I see enough stuff I know I like to want to try the rest. (Yeah, I'm musically greedy.)
