Scopitones!
A Scopitone is a "film jukebox" invented in France (where else?) in the 1960's - Scopitone is also the name for the "videos" played on it. Check out the Scopitone archive.
And if you think Elaine Benes' dancing is awful, check out Neil Sedaka's moves.
Yeah, yeah, my heart's in a whirl!

Poor July had the wear that thingy on her head when she just barely missed June's cute little pixie dress.
-
my favorite
-
neil sedaka is one thing, but seriously, what's with the august calendar girl?
-
That Johnny Hallyday is dreamy.
-
I'm glad to see that lip-synching techniques have improved significantly since Neil Sedaka's day.
-
mmmm, delectable cheesy goodness!
-
That is fan-tas-tic ! J'aime pas l'rock ! is just great. And proof that rap music, like everything else, was invented in France !
-
ohhh the DVD's.... I think I've got some Xmas gifts in the works!
-
This is incredible. Thank you so much Koko.
-
That Johnny Hallyday is dreamy. He just looks scary now. He's had his face remade at least thee times.
-
Times 3, 14: And looking in ye mirror, thy face shall scare thee.
-
Is he still married to that dreadful woman, Estelle or whatever her name is? The one who wrote the cookbook thingy? /je suis un rock and roll man
-
in ye mirror (Ye = you, thy = your.)
-
Can anybody translate the lyrics in the video Koant mentioned? I have a feeling that my life would make perfect sense, if only I know what that gravel-voiced Frenchman was saying.
-
jacobw: I could and I would but I'm stuck with using a unix box for the rest of the day, so I can't play the video at the moment. Speaking of lyrics, has anyone else noticed the 'name that scopitone' video ? The song starts funny - basically, a guy who's fed up with his gf - with the chorus being "Please leave me", which is unusual and fine but then, further in the song, while the guy is still complaining about her, he goes: when I hit you / you're laughing / it's because / you like thaaaat Weird.
