Needless to say, this pilot won't be seeing any combat for a while
  • Betcha he voted for Bush. Sorry, sorry, couldn't resist. I'll shut up now.
  • Mike Dupuis, president of the township's Board of Education, said school workers are mindful that the firing range is nearby. "Mindful"??
  • I wonder if he will be charged criminally. Shooting at or on school property is a very, very serious offense. I suspect that there will be no charges filed.
  • Must be the new "No Collateral Damage Left Behind" program.
  • I suggest he be tied up in the gym, and every kid gets a shot, dodge-ball style.
  • "The Pentagon reports that despite reports to the contrary, it was not in fact a school, but a terrorist training camp and WMD plant. The Pentagon is also reporting that 34 insurgents were confirmed killed in the raid."
  • Damn... I knew the Bushies weren't exactly for education, but duuudde... Chill ese....
  • Ha!!!! @ Pogo
  • betcha it's an ex-student Hey, there were things I didn't like about my school either, and if I got the chance, who knows?
  • A pilot that competant could easily go on to become president or something, given the right support.
  • It's also a very novel way to get out of going to Iraq.
  • It's hard work!
  • heyyyyyy..... didn't N.J. vote for Kerry? hmmmmm... and, two days later, this...... just saying......
  • "The National Guard takes this situation very seriously," Well no shit, Sherlock!
  • Needless to say, this pilot won't be seeing any combat for a while ...but I'm pleased to report that it won't put a dent in his Presidential aspirations.
  • on further preview... what Pogo said
  • This story would have been a few magnitudes more important if that school hadn't been closed today.
  • Ah crap... it was 11 pm. I'll stop posting now.
  • Maybe he thought it was a Canadian school. Or Italian. Or anyone else, really. US forces have a long and honorable history of being a trifle...careless and/or trigger happy. Goodness knows how many Aussies are still alive because the US decided not to help out in East Timor. /snark
  • To be fair, an elementary school can easily behave like a terrorist training camp when you're fucked up on gubmint speed.
  • ya know..... now that i think about it, i would rather face a group of terrorists than a school full of 5 to 11 year olds..... Mission Accomplished! /where's that old flight jacket, I see a photo op here!
  • He had information that Osama was holding out in there...so he wanted to take him out!
  • maybe we *should* send him over to iraq. he already knows how to aim at schools...and i bet he can get a hospital or red cross camp in his cross-hairs better than anyone in his squadron. i also heard he has certification in tactical daycare center targeting. (yes...i know...it's wrong, sorry.)
  • oh..hi. i'm new by the way.
  • All this aside, why is there a school 3.5 miles from a military target range (or vice versa, whichever was there first). Not much good but a whole ton of bad things can come out of that situation. I am only surprised that this hasn't happened before.
  • I see that the range was there first. But still, you can't even build a bar that close to a school in some States.
  • Bottom of the page: Bush Looks To The Future
  • What made him think it was the target? The playground? The gym equipment? The multicoloured pasta-shape collages? Every time I think about this, I just bust out in fits of giggles.
  • A guy makes one little mistake...
  • It's ok! It's friendly fire! You know, for kids.
  • Ok, this is just makes me sick. Back in the day, you'd have kids bringing handguns or shotguns to school and shooting the place up. Then they start bringing automatic weapons and pipebombs. Now they're using F16s. School shootings have gotten way out of hand. When we will we wake up and realize that this is a serious problem? We have legions of kids who are totally desensitized by graphic flight simulators, social outcasts just ready to jump into the nearest cockpit and launch tactical strikes against those who reject them... it's getting worse people. We have to act now before we have kids bringing aircraft carriers and space stations to school. This is the real crisis in America.
  • *collapses in fit of giggles*
  • Meh, thanks for bringing a fresh perpective into this discussion. If I was president you'd be my first pick for Sec't of Education.
  • You're all laughing, but let me tell you, those kids had ULTIMATE LEGOS
  • We made this post political?
  • here in the states one always must assume that the other party may indeed be carrying a HUGE gun.
  • Maybe it was that Pepsi guy, who turned in all of his points for the Harrier...
  • Damn, I was hoping this was going to be about the start of a civil war. Too bad.
