Guess who's next? And guess who's on their side?

Curious Monkey: I recall hearing rumblings before the war that Iraq was planning on switching to the Euro with the embargo program. Explaining Europe's (except England, who doesn't use the Euro...hmmm)opposition to the war. I heard nothing of it in the media. Anybody know more about this? Are we headed there again?

  • It's a race. If Iran gets functioning nukes with a delivery system that can hit Israel, they'll be as immune from US action as North Korea or Pakistan, maybe more so. There'll be plenty of posturing, threats to the rest of the world if they don't mark Iran a pariah state, but nothing substantial. Unless, of course, one ends up with a US president who believes provoking Iran into nuking Israel will kick off the rapture and thinks this is a Jolly Good Thing.
  • Just a wee correction - Italy is part of the Euro zone, as is Spain. Both supported the Iraq war. Ditto Portugal and the Netherlands.
  • Don't forget this China's oil giant Sinopec Group has signed a US$70 billion oil and natural gas agreement with Iran, which is China's biggest energy deal with the No. 2 OPEC producer.
  • Looking at the electoral results in the US thus far, I imagine they're working overtime...
