Superman is Dead. Long live Superman! - Tales of Superman from the 1930's to present-day. Online comics! Some of the classic Superman stories such as Superman! The first story - including one of the many "scientific explanations" for Superman's strength (People from Krypton get super strong upon their reaching maturity.. or is it because of Earth's yellow sun? Or maybe it's Earth's lesser gravity... anyway..), The Origin of Superman - in fact, several origins of Superman! And more!

Also including Superman returns to Krypton - wherein he finally learns what actually happened to the planet of his birth - even though he apparently already knew! And, uh, Superman's Other Return to Krypton - wherein he shamelessly cheats on Lois with a Krytonian floozie & gets his end away. Go Superman! And lots of other stuff to waste your time on. I've wasted too much time on it already.

  • Wowee!!
  • Very nice.
  • Men of Tomorrow, by Gerard Jones, and just out, includes a comics-world bombshell: Jerry Seigel, one half of the duo that invented Superman, lost a parent a couple years before Supes stepped into his tights. He dad was apparently murdered, shot to death! Superman's origin? It's Batman's! [I heard an interview with Jones on the radio yesterday and it's possible I have it mixed up, and that Shuster's pop was the one killed, but either way, it's pretty interesting. The book sounds fanatastic, like a companion to Chabon's entirely wonderful Kavalier and Klay.]
  • Mark Millars Superman: Red Son was an interesting take on the superman legend and origins.
  • Great links, Nostril! Thankee.
  • yes, Superman wears socks (if tights are socks) he flies and has a costume and smashes crooks and rocks
