  • This is awesome. Thank you Quaker! I just finished watching the complete series on DVD. I was wondering what exactly they were saying. I figured it was just phrases like "Darn it." But, "Fuck everyone in the universe to death," eh? Nice!
  • I think there are some interviews on the last DVD in the set, and they have a segment on the Chinese phrases. But they didn't specifically say what was being said in which scenes, which is why I was psyched to find this. Glad you liked it!
  • Yeah, and if I remember right, in that featurette they admit that there was often some variance between what the script said and how the actors handled the pronunciation. Can't say I blame 'em.
  • Firefly was the reason I got a TV again. Then the hosers took it off the air. Praise $diety for DVD sets. And the internet. My son is going to love this. :-)

    Kaylee: Everybody's got somebody... Wash, tell me I'm pretty... Wash: Were I unwed, I would take you in a manly fashion. Kaylee: 'Cause I'm pretty? Wash: 'Cause you're pretty.
    Eh, not as good as the performance. But still classic.
  • I basically like anything uttered by Jayne. Mal: "Are you offering me a trade?" Jayne: "A trade!? Hell, it's theft. This is the best damn gun made by man. It has extreme sentimental value. It's miles more worthy than what you got." Mal: "What I got? She has a name." Jayne: "So does this!" (caresses the gun lovingly) "I call it Vera." Mal: "Well, my days of taking you seriously are certainly coming to a middle."
  • This is all part of the conspiracy to convince me I do want to go out and spend money on a series I've never seen. It's working.

  • Me too. I've never seen even a second of either this or Farscape, and you bastards have my wallet halfway out of my pocket.
  • Well, in prioritising, I would say if you like Buffy, get this. If you like the Muppets, get Farscape (not saying it's just like the muppets, but its more like Muppets than like Buffy). If you like Buffy and the Muppets (like me - I love the muppet episode of Angel), you will be spending a lot of money, or learning the wonders of peer to peer sharing.
  • If pasting in Firefly quotes is what it takes to get you folks to watch it, I can do this all night. Inara: "Right. You're a criminal mastermind. What was the last cargo we snuck past the Alliance to transport?" Mal: "We made a perfectly good piece-" Inara: "What was the cargo?" Mal: "They were dolls." Inara: "They were little geisha dolls with big heads that wobbled!"
  • There's a muppet episode of Angel? *gasps* I have to see it -- silly NZ TV doesn't screen Angel. Damn them.
  • You know what I just realised? Not only does Whedonesque have a picture of the puppet Angel featured as the first in the line on the front page, but another is their browser icon.
