I eat books -
a fascinating personal blog of reading, from Weird Tales to Vanity Fair.
-
Must be a different definition of 'fascinating' than I'm used to. Now, if it was a blog from a guy who actually had the psychological disorder that compels people to literally eat books, then it would be something interesting to me. In fact, this blog probably wins the Nostril Award for most boring blog Evar. Perhaps if the book choices weren't so pedestrian?
-
Maybe fascinating was an over statement - but I found it interesting. More interesting than what is said about each book is the variety - they aren't pedestrian. Pedestrian would be books 2-39 of the Sweet Valley High series. Some are books I've heard of, and wondered if I should read, like the Devil's Dictionary. Others, like Disease and History, I hadn't heard of, but now would like to read.

Here's a little blog of books I've been reading with food recommendations for the accompaniment of same: My Life and My Films, by Jean Renoir. Serve with a crisp handful of chilled celluloid. Do not overdub! Robert Bresson, by Philippe Arnaud. Take one sacred Host. Cover liberally with Catholic guilt. Fast until next Easter. Confessions of Zeno, by Italo Svevo. Take sixty cigarettes and enter into analysis. Crack Wars, by Avital Ronell. You won't even feel hungry reading this one! Cousin Bette, Balzac. Syphilitic flesh hung until rancid, with three hogsheads of nasty claret. Bird Lives!, by Ross Russell. Fried chicken, heroin, and whisky. Make it a triple!

I eat books. Literally.

Books?!?!? They still have those?

Some of the reviews were tempting appetizers. I had read Lovecraft's The Colour Out of Space as a teen with enjoyment, but never explored any more of the author's work. Lovecraft was an eerie lurker/loner on the streets of Providence, R.I., who wasted too much of his literary life writing to penpals.

Not a bad selection of books, jb, but so far rather sparse. I take it the site has not been around very long, so hopefully more titles will be added in future.
