L.A. Meetup. Any monkeys interested?
We talked about this once before and what with the server death, the old post is gone. Should we give it another try?

I've just moved here and don't really know a good meeting place. Any suggestions?

  • as if I have anything better to do...
  • Musso and Franks? The Pantry downtown. Phillipe's downtown? Irv's burgers on Santa Monica and Sweetzer? The King's Head pub in Santa Monica? The Cat and Fiddle in Hollywood?
  • Now that I think about it, The Cat and Fiddle might be nice. Outside seating area, good beer, relaxed attitude, decent pub grub. It's on Sunset near (I think) Cahuenga.
  • I'm interested. I'm downtown, if someone's keeping count.
  • Also, Barney's Beanery on Santa Monica and La Cieniga. Funky, divey, rock and roll-y. And it's close to where I live ;-) I can pretty much travel to anywhere in the greater LA area. Does anyone have an opinion as to an actual restaurant/bar besides me?
  • My only request is that it be somewhere bike-able or bus-able from Westwood. Other than that, I'm breezy. Somewhere downtown might be cool since I've never been there ever. And I guess we need to figure out when. Once again, I'm breezy as long as it isn't too late on a school night.
  • Put me down, though I havn't been a regular here in some months. I'm under 21 (19) so I guess that's my only requirement.
  • Well, anyway, I have suggested an bunch of spots. If anyone else wants to come up with somewhere else, cool. But if not, all LA monkeys should agree to one of them and we will show up at the appointed time (yet another issue to agree with...).
  • Is CellarFloor old enough to patronize Barney's Beanery? If so, I vote for there.
  • I've promised myself not to attempt to take charge of this one, but I still have some surplus "MoFi" butons and badges from the January Me/Mo/Meetup. I'm fine with Barney's; just make sure somebody keeps me away from the beans (and the beers). I make strange enough noises when I talk..
  • Barney's is under 21 friendly. There is a general area and a bar area (21 and over). So if we stay in the general area, we be cool.

  • I'm in! If this shindig happens somewhere near West Hollywood. (I'm a new monkey without a car, and don't know Los Angeles very well.) Barney's Beanery sounds fine to me.

  • Alright, you California monkeys! Someone needs to take charge here. Your just teasing us with the constant batting back and forth of times, places and days! Sounds like Barney's is the place, now pick a day! We are all waiting with baited breath (whatever that means) to see you all and get our shoutouts! Let's go, let's go!   • Might I suggest a Sunday afternoon? It could be as early as a week from today.

  • A sunny Sunday (although this one is a bit rainy and I love it) sounds great for me. I might even get my sis who just registered as "princess bananahead" on MoFi to come up from Palm Desert for the meetup. BTW, I have a couch and easychair that I am giving away that any LA monkeys are welcome to. They are a bit tired, but have couple of years more wear in them. They are covered in raw silk, in a multicolored thread design. If I don’t hear from anyone in the next couple of days, I’m donating them to goodwill. Write me at my email address in my profile, just take out the "spam" part of the address.
  • Geez, next time I'm down in La Quinta visiting the in-laws, I'll have to try and convince Southern CA monkeys to do it again, 'cept in the desert! Yipee!
  • Well, if someone has to be camp counselor, I'll {gulp) be that someone (tho I have so little standing in this community, it's criminal). Barney's Beanery next Sunday. Say, after Sunday naptime? 'Round three o'clock?

  • I'm a jerk. I took my usual Sunday afternoon hour-long nap at one or so, and woke up at 5:30. If I had any idea y'all monkeys would still be there, I'd have skeddaddled [sp] to join in. I even called there the night before and some nice person said that the football people might crowd out a group of internet geeks. Am really sorry I missed this.
