ROLL KATAMARI, ROLL!
It's been said before by those with more knowledge and power than me; but I gotta tell you: Katamari Damacy is the hardest to find, weirdest and coolest movie link game I've played in years. On top of that, the music is WONDERFUL! Still don't get it? Try the comic. If you see a copy, snag it. You won't be disappointed.

Thanks, forks. That music really hit the spot for me. I've been hearing about this game here and there, and I'm convinced now. I'm going to hunt down a copy of the game (and the soundtrack) as soon as possible. *digs out my j-pop albums*
-
Well made post, forksclovetofu. The game I really dig the stage 07 music track. I wish game makers had the courage to try experimental games in the US market.
-
I bought it today and spent a good eight hours playing it. Technically I'm finished, but not only are the levels not 100% complete, but even if they were I'd totally go play them all over again. I knew there was a reason I'd bought a PS2. (I figured it would be Gran Turismo 4, but until that comes out...)
-
So when can I come back to your place and spend several more hours playing Katamari? I am already jonesing for more.
-
I bought it a few days ago - best 20 bucks I ever spent on a new game.
-
spread the gospel forks! it's definitley worth tracking down to play (my favorite game...possibly ever). it's also fun to watch, so you can yell out things like "you're big enought to get the giant squid now!" plus, wouldn't it be great if all the complicated things in life were explained by a weiner dog named dr. katamari?
-
I loved the giant squid(s)! I have a thing for cephalopods. I also found great satisfaction in rolling up birds.
-
Adore this game. I used to blow off steam with hand-to-hand fighter games, but nothing on my console relieves stress, I have found, than cute little E-for-Everyone Katamari Damacy. Talk about the screams of the innocent! The city in this game takes more punishment than Townsville.
-
Yep. Got it and I'm hooked now.
-
Is this an underlooked games thread in general, or Katamari Damacy specific? My friend bought the game, and he's digging it. I only got to play a bit but it is really a lot of fun. It's just satisfying to go back and roll things up that used to block your path. Worth the cash. If it's underlooked games in general, then I'm going to champion Cubivore. It's a Gamecube game, where your cute little block creature eats other cute little block creatures in a battle for survival. You can evolve different ways depending on what you eat. It's also got a really neat set of graphics. Everything is cube shaped, water droplets, the sun, just everything.
-
The name katamari damashii is basically a pun. And the backstory is about the most ridiculous thing I've read. (Your dad's a drunk and broke the stars, so you have to repair them, what?! Also what the fuck kind of creature is Katamari Hakase?)
-
OMG, Katamari Damacy II! To be released in 2005 spring!!! *hyperventilates*
-
Is there a pc version of this, or is it just a console game?
-
PS2 only, AFAICT.
-
Damn it. I really want to play this.
-

-
OOOOOOOOOOOOO! Awesome! It's kind of hard to control the prince, but it's so cute! And the music is hauntingly familiar...

Nooooooooooooooooooooo!!!
-
This is good. I say that as one who thinks Katamari Damacy is the greatest video game ever, BTW. It wouldn't be good to beat it to death over the course of inumerable sequels. Besides, I'd never leave the house.
-
Takahashi on "We Love Katamari": "There are fun things in the game, though I am not happy with all of it." He's obviously insane. I loved the original Katamari, but the sequel is far superior: smoother gameplay, more levels, different environments, and so forth.
-
There's a sequel?!? *blocks out 2006 calendar*
-
Yeah. We <3 Katamari is a total time sink.
-
It's awesome. I don't think they could've done a better job with the sequel. Except by making it longer.
-
Okay, so #2 bought me We Love Katamari as a "Sorry the baby puked all over your new sweater in public" gift a couple of weeks ago. The_bone is right: it's a real time sink. And we keep arguing over who's turn it is. It's so goddamn cute!
-
Too bad you can't use your Katamari to roll up the baby spew. Has everyone seen the promos for Loco Roco? Looks like the true heir to the Katamari Damacy saga.
-
Oh no, don't tell me any more. I can't afford another game addiction.
-
No more Katamari
