Children's TV with a heavy dose of adult innuendo. A hilarious video clip (and script) from a retro kids' TV show, Rainbow. I haven't stopped giggling yet.
  • Never mind, double post. I did a search, I swear. *cries*
  • *puts away the torches, returns the tar and feathers to the cupboard*
  • Just this once, we'll let you live.
  • It was funny-OMG-they-said-'twanger', not funny-ha-ha. /no sense of humour
  • fuyugare , it's funnier if you picture the thousands of children that were traumatized by that skit. Becomes less funny (not to mention disturbing) when you find out that it was never aired for children. But it's still cute to think about the scene as a much needed escape valve for performers trapped on all sides by the cloyingly wholesome strictures of children's television.
  • Ah, Meli, have a nanar. IIIII liked it, again.
  • Ah, but "twanger" has a history. About 50 years ago, there was a radio program which featured "Uncle Ed" and "Froggy the Gremlin." Froggy would appear when Ed said "Plunk your magic twanger, Froggy! As I recall, the program was sponsered by Buster Brown Shoes. Buster and his dog Tige lived ln the shoes we all had to buy. When my daughter was growing up, I decided that "twanger" was a great name for the tv remote control. We still call it that if there's no one around that we have to explain it to.
  • Having actually seen (or should that be suffered?) "Rainbow" makes this clip a million times funnier. The characters, the line delivery, everything is spot on. I think Nickdanger's right about it being a way for the performers/writers to blow off some steam.
