People of Earth, Your Attention Please
For those can't wait until next year for the movie, a new series of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy premieres this evening on BBC Radio 4. 18:30 BST, repeated Thursday 23:00. For those unable to catch the live feed, the new eps will be up on the listen again site for a week after the initial broadcast.
  • 'kin brilliant.
  • Do the original, unabridged radio episodes exist in a non-MP3 format? (I've heard the BBC MP3s are poor quality) I can't believe I still haven't heard the originals..
  • yes yes yes yes yes ... this is the most exciting thing to happen ever! And Rolypolyman - it used to be possible to buy CDs of the original radio series ... I have a set of cds - but the last one with the final two episodes is no longer recognised by any cd player O own!
  • Woo-hoo! I'm out tonight, but I'm hoping that my Sky+ box can record radio programmes. If not, it's the internet for me.
  • I take it the HHG2G Listen Again button is nonfunctional simply because the episode hasn't aired just yet. I don't trust Firefox 100%.
  • Rolypolyman - that's why it's called 'Listen Again' :-) They don't post the link until after the programme - sometimes some time after the programme. Radio 4 is streamed live though.
  • aaaah that was wonderful, it took a little time to get used to the lack of Peter Jones, but just marvellous to hear Douglas Adam's wonderful prose on the radio again ... I'm off to do a little flolloping
  • I concur: superb stuff, even if it loses a little through the sheer familiarity of the book. But the vocalisation of the matress was bliss itself. /flollops off
  • YES!! I can listen to them, I can listen to them, I can listen to them does happy dance
  • I have the mp3s of the entire series lying around somewhere - they were linked from the blue a year or so ago... should be able to dig them up if you want the last two dickdotcom
  • coriolisdave - that's very kind, thank you - but I also have mp3s of the entire series (probably from the same source!!) which I kind of didn't want to mention earlier because then I'd have had to offer to give them to rolypolyman and though I want to share the wonderfulness of hhgttg I also want people to pay money for them so that Douglas Adams gets the royalties even though he's dead ... does that make any sense?
  • certainly does ;) was reluctant myself for pretty much the same reasons, actually... but then my under-caffienated conscience became overwhelmed by my desire to share the monkey love ;)
