Capsula Mundi. The first italian project to promote ecological burial. [Via Aeiou.]
  • green burials are slowly becoming more popular. i like the idea: no embalming fluid, no vaults. just like lisa's character on "six feet under," buried directly in the ground. however, i'm unsure of the environmental ramifications -- the thought of bodies quietly oozing into the ground makes me wonder what that does to the earth. any biologists out there?
  • I like it.
  • This method, from Sweden, gets my vote.
  • wow, some wander, that's wild. if i go that way i hope i at least get to wear a sweater. brrr.
  • I like your name, some wander by mistake. But I would prefer sky burial, or to be eaten by geese.
  • I am so totally in love with the method in swbm's link.
  • I was considering having my favorite recipes prepared using my body and served to the mourners. They'd be informed a couple of months after the fact about the preparation.
  • They'd be informed a couple of months after the fact about the preparation. You mean XyloMax was shock-fried instead of half-baked? *reels back in horror
  • That is a wonderful idea - I especially like the idea of being commemorated by a tree instead of a headstone. For years, I thought that a headstone would be best, for historical purposes. But since then I have realised how very quickly they are worn away, esp by acid rain. (Oh, why didn't our ancestors use granite instead of limestone!) But a tree - that you could be really proud of.
  • What to do with my remains? It's up to you to use your brains -- Whatever's easiet for you. I really won't care what you do.
  • The mighty oak! Actually, I think I'd like a monkey puzzle tree.
  • Put me down for composting.
