Dokaka
is a Japanese artist who does all-vocal covers of songs like "Smells Like Teen Spirit" among others. Using only his mouth, he re-creates each song bit by bit. Impressive if not a bit bizarre.

Sorry...
-
Zoinks, that's great! Not seen/heard that before, latecomer to MonkeyFilter..
-
D'oh! Not as obscure as I thought! My apologies...
-
Jeez, I even commented in that thread. Need to stop smoking so much crack...
-
Mmmm, crack....
-
I also missed this last time, or had trouble loading the site or something. Thanks for the link again.
-
Mmmmm, dokaka...
-
I missed the first time. This is the greatest thing ever. Holy cow.
-
I played "The Trooper" a couple of weeks ago for a coworker (only gave him a bare description of Dokaka's schtick, and wouldn't tell him what song we were about to listen to). He was amazed.
-
I've had his "Angel of Death" stuck in my head since the first time i heard it a while ago.
-
I believe he does some of the vocals in Bjorks new a cappella album Medulla
-
heheh, whats funny is that you actually posted in that old thread Sooooz...
-
mrk - I know, that's what's embarrasing. I actually read about this guy in an article about the new Bjork album.

And those of us in the same MoFiCDX group with donabean were also treated to a sample of his work. (I hadn't heard of it before that)
