Lovely Online Treasures from the British Library (shockwave). Beautifully done -- you can "flip" through the pages of books as disparate as The Luttrell Psalter, a 16th century medical text, or a Chinese Buddhist scroll printed in 868. The audio commentary is a nice touch.
  • The above link takes you to the broadband version. If you've got a lower speed connection, try this.
  • Thanks for remembering us low speeders. And a loverly link, too!
  • Good find! The page flipping is an especially nice touch.
  • Wonderful post and a great use of Shockwave.
  • Torluath! (((( Bananas to you!
  • Wow, thanks Torluath! I am crazy in love with this. Gory anatomy and beauty-full botanical drawings, not to mention Leonardo's splendiferous notebook and, and... oooooh...
  • Bananas? For me? Ooooh, you shouldn't have! The whole site is pretty cool, (or sweet, or whatever people say nowadays...). Guttenberg bibles, Magna Cartas, not to mention the sound archive: I just love it. I'm definitely adding a trip to the real BL to my itinerary next time work takes me to London.
