The psychology of cyberspace. We're all pathological.
  • [good stuff] Meh. Reality? What's reality, Papa?
  • Let me begin by telling a joke (and this is one I made up myself): How many psychologists does it take to do computer-mediated psychotherapy?...... None! The computer can do it all by itself! Teh funnay as well as teh percipient. +1!
  • Plegmund, this is very rich! Thanks. How wonderful, so many interesting things to read!
  • Psychology is a pretty torn-up field right now. Many of the major theories clinical psychological therapies are based upon have largely been discredited. It is also, I might add, an incredibly easy field to get a degree in. I've been thinking about taking a degree in it myself, so easy is the course. And this is because I am a man without many scruples when it comes to infiltrating and destroying a corrupt establishment from within. Also, I'm apparently pathological, according to this hack. But you knew that.
  • I think this stuff is complete pants and the joke I quoted is the lamest I have read in ages. I am sorry my big old sarcasm tags in the comment were undersized. Next time I will hold out a red flag in front of me if anything travels at more than 6 mph. Because it could be dangerous to human health.
  • Sorry, Wolof. If it's any comfort, I think your worry about having been excessively subtle is needless.
  • Created in 1996 and still around! That's what, 200 years in net-time? I've found parts of this to be an interesting read. The section about integrating on/offline was intriguing to me, since this seems to be the trajectory I'm on myself. I have to wonder how applicable all the obsession about that "Palace" chatroom is, but some of it is interesting.
  • "...men seemed to have more pressure on them to be entertaining..." from 'gender-switching in cyberspace'. OK, from now on it's Plegmina , alright?
  • But now you'll be pressured to cough up nude pics of yourself, so it's kind of a tossup.
  • No, that's OK, so long as it's artistic nudity, you know?
  • Sorry, I think that was a regrettable example of the online disinhibition effect
  • I read Wurwilf's comment as "...cough up nude pics of yourself, so it's kind of a tosser."
  • >>>...a regetable example of the online disinhibition effect<<< [banana]
  • Sorry, Wolof. No need, Plegmina! Although I've probably seen your photo a bit too recently to believe you're really a 23 year old pneumatic blonde. *sigh*
  • (Also, Ms Mina of Pleg, your link doesn't work, you hot vixen, you.)
