Curious, George: Yahoo! Chat
Why can't I login to Yahoo chat?
I've tried signing in under several different screen names, but nothing works. I get to the login screen, enter my info, and am returned to the login screen. It doesn't report any errors, and I'm sure my screen name and password are correct.

Yo -- I've had the exact same problem since installing YM about four months ago -- not once have I been able to login! Help us, fellow simians!
-
Coincidentally, it was 4-6 months ago that my old Yahoo email account, which I've had since '96, locked me out. I just assumed someone had cracked the password, which wasn't exactly a tricky one. Maybe there's a very clever and hardworking bot out there.

I've had no problem whatsoever.

Check with your isp. I have some problems also at work - firewall doesn't allow certain kind of connections, i.e. P2P clients. Yahoo messenger works, but must use that http option, and then, video can't be seen or sent. But at least I can chat.

I'm having no problem with video, either. In fact, I don't know anyone on my friends list that is having problems.

try nuking your cookies, clearing your cache, and check your root:\windows\hosts file for "erroneous" yahoo entries.
-
wait, what browser are you using, robotnik?
-
I haven't had any problems with Yahoo Chat but one of my e-mail accounts says that "An Unexpected Error Has Occured" and that "Yahoo has been notified of the problem." It's been saying that for over 3 years now, on multiple computers/ISPs and I've e-mailed Yahoo support a couple of times and it's never been fixed.
-
java problem perhaps, if you're trying to access using the browser client?
-
I've tried it with both IE and FireFox. Now one of the screen names is working, but the other one still won't work. Hmmm.
