A Night Monkey in the House. A charming little essay from 1886 (newly exhumed from the Harper's Magazine archives) about living with a pet monkey. (Actually, kinkajous aren't really monkeys, they're more closely related to raccoons. But they have prehensile tails, they like bananas, and they look very cute.)
  • Nyaaaaa!
  • Now that I've had my fill of cute monkeycoon pictures, I have time for the article itself. What a good one! I love her description of the animal, how he investigates the house, eats the nanner, grooms himself. I especially loved this part: African or American, lemuroid or bear, night-monkey or kinkajou—what matters? He does not the less continue to be a most attractive and interesting little beast, although if he is decided to belong to the Western continent, we shall be forced to conclude that the sailor who imported him had not the love of truth in his soul. Beautiful. Also, here's another weird (or wierd) little animal.
  • Pretty kinkajou I love only you, Coz I think You're my kind of kink.
  • What terrific critters. but this guy is still my favorite.
  • Kinkajous, red pandas, and lemurs! In one thread!! *collapses from cuteness overload* kinkajou, kinkajou, kinkajou... I like that word!
  • Minda, if you think those are cute, then check out the coatis! Love those snouts. They are the only animal that can sniff around corners. Coatis are cuties
  • The coatis look like Lassie with a crew cut! Kawaii! /closet Lassie fan
  • Cute!
