Abu Ghraib Report Exonerates Rumsfeld.
A new Pentagon report on abuses at Abu Ghraib -- due to be released at the end of the month -- has been leaked in part to the Baltimore Sun.
"By naming military intelligence officials as well as the seven military police who have been charged," said a lawyer who has liaised with military officials involved in the case, "it will look like action has been taken. But basically it's still the same storyline of just a few bad apples, way down the food chain."

back atcha, kid *tck!* *tck!*

I, for one, am astonished by this turn of events. While we're on the field of possibly-US-authorised prison naughties, this might be a story worth keeping an eye on.
-
Yeah, Idema claims his trial is insane because he hasn't received a copy of the charges against him. Thanks the gods we never do anything like that.
-
That must explain why Rummy approved stress methods and the use of attack dogs on prisoners.
-
Oh no...not...STRESS!!!! And the attack dogs were used as intimidators, to prey on the prisoners' fear of dogs (which could easily be determined through a psych profile). Everything that I've read indicates the dogs were not used to physically attack the prisoners. ********* I once threatened this one guy that I'd cancel cable if he didn't stop watching Crank Yankers and he broke down. Just broke down. I laughed and laughed.
-
Oh good, now that's over maybe they might have some time to look into allegations of sexual abuse of Afghani villagers by US soldiers. (clip - Real format)
-
How many prisoners were beaten to death? *cracks joke about baseball, whistles*
-
When he saw the horrific abuses at Abu Ghraib prison, Joe Darby knew he had to blow the whistle. But coming forward would change his lifeas well as his family'sforever, and for the worse. Because back in his own community and in the small towns of America, handing over those photos didn't make Joe Darby a hero. It made him a traitor.

And the attack dogs were used as intimidators just like back in my frat. Man that was some funny fuckin' shit. Of course, later when it was easily ... determined through a psych profile that the pledges were afraid of rats we got this cage? That attached to their heads? and we put rats in it? On their frickin' heads! Oh man, we laughed and laughed. They were all like "Aaaaiiighh!" and floppin' around on the floor! BwhAhahahaaa!

Reuters reporting: Outgoing Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld authorized the mistreatment of detainees at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq, the prison's former U.S. commander said in an interview on Saturday.
-
THE US Army has thrown out a conviction against the only officer court-martialled over the Abu Ghraib scandal.
-
Rumsfeld blamed in detainee abuse scandals: A bipartisan Senate report calls decisions made by the former Defense secretary a 'direct cause' of inhumane treatment of prisoners of war. Other Bush officials also are faulted.
