Hmm... maybe I shouldn't have done that. Sorry. This is actually a really cool application, and not just for sacrilegious purposes.
-
I had no idea "piss" was that old. :-)
-
Oh, organisms have been doing it for eons now! ;)

Search 24 different versions of the bible. You can also narrow your search to specific parts of the bible, and it has an option to see the whole capter, to get the context. It's a very useful tool for any bible flame war.

That's a wonderful resource, Mr. Knickerbocker. Worth a post, so thanks for adding it here. And FWIW IMHO there can be no such thing as a "religious disagreement"... God is on your side or He isn't. More power to us all.

My favorite bible site is unbound.biola.edu. If you use it more than once, get a free 'my unbound' account so you can access extra features like notes, flagged verses, and easier access to commentary.

I did the very same thing by downloading a .txt file of the King James Bible.
-
The site wants to install seven tons of spyware on my computer

why do you hate jeezus dng?
-
Well, perhaps not such a great link. How about Bartlelby.com for those who haven't been there?
-
It doesn't have a speel check. :-(

Skrik is right- how is this better than a text file and word processor? Mr. Knickerbocker- thanks for the good link, but I have to ask: why would we need a tool for a 'bible flame war'???
-
God is on your side or He isn't. Hmmm. I thought God was on everyone's side. Silly me.

Well, Skrix and zebediah, my mistake in the post was describing it as a "word search", which it really isn't. More of a browser, a comprehensive one. I enjoy just browsing it for the names and archaic words. I don't think text searching would be as effective or as interesting (as a post), and my word processor doesn't simultaneously isolate all examples of a search term in context nor does it seem to enjoy a 700,000+ word document. :-) The site has a simple interface and loads quickly, though for those who got spyware slammed, sorry 'bout that. I'm on a Mac here and rarely think about those issues, but I'll try to be more careful/considerate in future posts.

Jerry Garcia, sorry if I sounded snarky. Some people browse their bibles by individual words, but I'm not one of them. No online source I've seen compares to a good concordance or study guide in my hand.
