Slightly obscure music news. Holy flibberty gibbet! Slint are back!

For those without the knowledge, Slint were an early 90s rock band who released a pair of stunning albums before breaking up. They essentially started the post rock genre, probably influenced half the bands you listen to, and their individual members play a part (or have played a part) in a frankly ludicrous number of bands in all kinds of genres.

  • And in sadder news, Beulah breaks up.
  • And in equally sad news, The Beta Band breaks up.
  • In even sadder news, Savage Garden is still together.
  • Savage Garden is still together. Nope, broke up a couple of years ago. Calm yourself.
  • My buddy from a former job's brother (so its gotta be true) was at work one day and some slint song came on and he was like "whoa, these guys used to be awesome" and asked his coworker "ever heard these guys before?" and the coworker replied from the top of the ladder he was on "Man, I was the freaking singer." and it turns out that he had been working alongside the guy for some time and had no idea.
  • lacking anything relevant to add, I nonetheless feel compelled to share my opinion of the Brothers Chapman, Jake and Dino (from BBF's 2nd link): they're wanking prats and prattling wankers, most likely at the same time. Joyously, this is the second opportunity I've had in two days to share my opinion of these pretenious, uncivil artistes. My defense to this libellous attack? IT'S TRUE.
