This article claims that Bush in retreating into his own little world and that he is not handling his job well at all. This one claims that he's taking anti-depressants. We can hope that things will not turn out well for him. (Both articles Capital Blue)
  • For information purposes: this thread is the first time we were sceptical of a Capitol Hill Blue story, while this one was taken ever-so-slightly more seriously.
  • Oh, well. One can dream.
  • Dry Drunk Syndrome? While I hold great disdain for the man's policies and his mishandling of my country's affairs, both foreign and domestic, I can only hope these reports are false and that he his in relatively good mental and physical health.
  • What can one expect when the whole world, minus approx. 50% of voting Americans, hates one?
  • surlyboi, you just made points with me.
  • Merely being pragmatic, f8x. It would really suck if the country was in the hands of a man losing his grip. I don't hate the man, never have, never will. Do I want him out of office ASAP because I think he's miserably failed his country in more ways than I care to count? Hell yes.
  • What can one expect when the whole world, minus approx. 50% of voting Americans, hates one? Considering that voter turnout in 2000 was about 50% of eligible voters, and a little less than 50% voted for him, it's more like 25%.
  • PLEASE note the source. from the site: "Capitol Hill Blue is a not-for-profit, non-commercial experiment in on-line journalism published by The Save America Foundation purely for the enjoyment of our readers." from its FAQ: So who writes the stories? Whoever can get to a keyboard on a given day. IF this indeed were true, the washpost and NYT would have had the story. really. they have multiple reporters with multiple sources deep inside the white house. something this big would be in a reputable outlet. any further posts from caphillblue should be taken for what they are, thinly disguised satire.
  • any further posts from caphillblue should be taken for what they are, thinly disguised satire. @SideDish **shhhhhhhhhhh**
  • well frankly it just pisses me off -- and you guys should know by now that it takes A LOT to get me angry -- that folks read this fake shit while, meanwhile, it's REAL news that the bush administration demanded pakistan wait and release info about sunday's terrorist capture during the dem's convention. jesus fucking christ.
  • What's so special about the news of the Administration asking Pakistan to spring the capture during the convention? That's just PR. That we all assumed *anyway* that the capture had been timed to coincide with the Convention is both a testament to the popularity of the tactic and a clue to the level of importance we ascribe to such translucent machination.
  • But the question Fes, is why do we ascribe such importance to such an obviously manipulated event? Have we truly become such easily led sheep?
  • That's the thing, I don't think we *do* ascribe such importance to a manufactured event. I took an informal poll around my office (read: I asked two people who passed by where I was sitting) about the big "capture." Neither had even heard about it. As July Surprises go (and sorry, SideDish, missed your earlier thread on the subject until now), this one is a puff of fart-smoke. Wait, you're not talking about the *convention*, are you?
  • I was talking about both. =)
  • Also, if he is on anti-depressants then thank god. I would rather have him being medicated for depression than floundering about with his fingers on several buttons without it. I don't understand why that would be such a big deal. I bet anyone going into the office of president would end up manic-depressive by the time it was over. Just look what it does to their faces. Look what you made me do! You made me defend Bush! Or at least pass up an opportunity to make fun of him. I hate you!!
  • What's so special about the news of the Administration asking Pakistan to spring the capture during the convention? I think it has something to do with the fact that, even though I hail from Wisconsin, I think one can have too much cheese in a given day.
  • I thought the point of the Pakistan pre-planned capture thing was not that it's an example of the supreme evil of the Bush administration, but rather that it was poo-pooed as left-wing nutjob conspiracy theorising when it was predicted? Hence, when it came true, we can all breathe a big lefty sigh of relief and start jumping around giving people the finger and chanting "Told you so". And future predictions of naughtiness might just have a bit more clout. Or something like that. No?
  • Sometimes a piss-take (satire) can be prophetic.
  • Being mildly to moderately mentally ill, I'm offended (not easy to do) at the antidepressant allegations. Gasp! Shock! With all the damn mudslinging going on with "both" sides for three looong years, I've finally ceased to care about the election at all. Democratic Party, this is the last straw; you've lost this Green's "ABB" vote to Nader. *pbthbthbth*
  • That's the spirit nil!! Vote for someone who takes money from people who go against everything he stands for.
  • Kimberly and Nil: I agree, there shouldn't be any stigma attached to antidepressants, but there is. OTOH It would really suck if the country was in the hands of a man losing his grip. Losing his grip! Com'on, be real. The man never HAD one. I fear the only grip is the one his handlers have on his .... Never mind.
  • "We can hope that things will not turn out well for him." Geez. Hate much?
  • I don't see that as hate. I see it as fervent hope that there will be a change of administration in the near future. A hope that I share.
  • 3 day after his capture, we have to crow about in the world press. There are "mid-level" Al-Quaeda operatives at Guantanamo whose identies are still secret after almost 2 years. Why? Because knowledge of their capture might compromise ongoing investigations. So, we capture a big fish, and three fucking days later decide to throw away this potential intel goldmine for a photo op. Yeah, looks like this administration is real serious about crushing Al-Quaeda...
  • That's the spirit nil!! Vote for someone who takes money from people who go against everything he stands for. So I should vote for a party that doesn't stand for what *I* stand for?
  • Surliboi: Thank you, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! Monkeyfilter: Have we truly become such easily led sheep? Not bad, BearGuy: Monkeyfilter: One can have too much cheese in a given day.
  • Q: Have we truly become such easily-led sheep? A: Yes. & that's a split infinitive, motherfucker. BANG
