Curious, George: prescription meds online Have any USAian monkeys purchased prescription meds from online and/or Candian pharmacies or discount drug warehouses?

I've been getting insurance through Mister shinything's place of work. Due to massive price increases, they're switching to a dreadful plan with a dreadful HMO that won't let me stay with my docs of several years and will charge lots extra for the privilege. One option is moving to a catastrophic $5,000 deductible, just-got-hit-by-a-truck sort of thing, and paying cash for checkups and prescriptions. Problem is, one of the two prescriptions I take (the one that keeps me sort of sane) costs $285 a month via a big chain. I'll wager that can be purchased cheaper elsewhere. Has anyone gone online/Canadian? Horror stories? Glowing recommendations? Potential pitfalls? Any ideas for navigating through this delightful swamp will be greatly appreciated.

  • Following Minnesota's example, our governor, Jim Doyle, recently set up www.drugsavings.wi.gov for the purpose of 'facilitating' the safe and inexpensive importation of medications from credible Canadian pharmacies. This took a lot of balls, because it really pissed off the FDA and the greedy corrupt American drug pushers dealers companies. Considering the innumerable amount of sketchy-ass websites that claim to sell drugs from overseas, the above MN/WI webpages might be good places to start.
  • Why don't you just emigrate to Canada? I (300 $/month user) did that recently. Not for that reason though.
  • I have used drugstore.com for a couple of years and they have done an excellent job for me. They accept all kinds of insurance plans if you've got prescription coverage. Mail them a scrip, set up an online account, and they mail you the drugs. And they email you when it's time to order a refill. Very handy. You can transfer your current scrips to them, if you have any refills left. Check their drug prices here. Hope this helps.
  • I live in MN, and boy am I embarrassed. But last I heard our wonderful gov was trying to block the MNRxConnect bill. He's such an ass that I tend to tune him out. Shame on me. Thanks Wedge. And thanks Mickey. Their prices are better than my local pharmacy on the med not available via MNRx. It seems like a very convenient way to go. Mare, I'd love to emigrate.   • shinything-excellent results w/Canadian drugs(prescription). In a pinch I've used costco pharmacy and found them to be the cheapest U.S. source by far.
