Wow, these 2D versions are really hard. I'll stick to 1D.

I wish I could find a link to a wonderfully horrendous homebrewed tetris version that ran on a NES (or GBC) emulator. The blocks started out in the middle of the field. The first block fell down, the second block fell left, the third block up, and so on. As a tetris snob, any such game that I can't control with an NES-grade cross-pad is one I can't fully connect with (not to mention the more subtle issue of only being able to rotate the bricks clockwise). Tetris quilt! Instructions for the individual blocks here. Pretty cool, but I think it would bother me that all the blocks fit together, and yet none of the lines have disappeared.
