Curious, George: Public domain White House footage
Inspired by this brilliant short film, which Homunculus linked to in an earlier thread, I'd like to put together my own short films using footage of Bush et al. Any suggestions on places to get good public domain footage for such a thing?
Ideally, I'd love to get a few miniDV cassettes full of footage good enough to submit to film festivals, but I'd settle for a place to download footage that's merely good-enough-for-internet streaming.

That video was fucking brilliant and hysterical.

That was awesome. Great use of the Sta-Puff Marshmallow man!

You should really go to the best public library near you and ask someone there. The footage in this film looks like nothing more than taped C-Span, as was quite a bit of Fahrenheit 9/11. It's possible that your local library keeps an archive of it. Failing that, contact television stations, especially any PBS carriers nearby. It's also possible that C-Span sells tapes of certain dates / programs, as long as you can identify what you want.

Scarabic, thanks for the suggestions. Things are made more complicated by the fact that I'm currently an ex-pat--I live in London. But it's an excellent idea, and on my next trip back to the US, I'll make a detour to a library.

The link I posted above now goes to a new one, "Coalition Remix." Here's the link for "Blast Off."
