Angelina Jolie won a reprieve for a forest
near her home in Cambodia from a planned hydroelectricity project. Jolie, who is a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador as well as an actress, pledged $1.3 million to protect Cambodia's forests last year.
I assume this will also be good news for Cambodian monkeys who live in the area (I couldn't find a good website on Cambodia's primates, but here's a good one on its neighbor Vietnam's endangered primates.)

Great title in the side bar!

You know, the woman comes across as such a freak sometimes with her vials of blood and all, but I must admit - I respect her for this. She's leading a truly worthwhile life. This doesn't seem to be token charity work at all (i.e., a celeb doing environmental benefits one day and then seen blithely driving an SUV the next day), but true commitment.

Orange Swan I read an article about Jolie & apparently most of her rep for freakiness comes from events earlier in her life. Apparently since adopting her son she "settled down" a lot and became very serious about the international relief work. To the point that she is supposedly considering quitting the acting gig... I agree, I think she is to be respected and lauded for working so hard to bring a little more to many around the world who have so painfully little... btw, there are links at the bottom of the main FPP link to her journals during various trips. they are detailed, insightful and quite interesting (as far as I read, anyway...)

She also set aside 2 mil for the 'Angelina Jolie Center for Kids who Don't Read Good and Want to Do Other Stuff Good Also'.

Magnificent lady.

If I was a lesbian, I'd totally do her. That tatt is amazing. On the serious side, I have enormous respect for her and wish that more of Hollywood and those with lotsa spare income would follow even slightly in her footsteps. We could all learn a lesson from that woman. (Well most of us)

I'd like to point out for the record that the first person to make an "I'd hit it" comment was in fact a woman. Having said that, I'd hit it. As you were.
