Kissability Permanent Makeup 'Look like yourself, only better'!!!

The picture alone is priceless. I don't think I've ever seen a better example of someone being their own worst advertisement! I got cosmetic tattooing myself about 4 years ago, from the highly-skilled, unfortunately retired Laura Vida in San Francisco. She did a lot of brilliant and fairly innovative work with tattooing to hide/beautify/alter/embellish scars from surgeries and accidents, such as radical masectomy. Tragically I can find no examples of her work thru Google...

  • An optometrist once told me that people who can open their eyes really wide may have some disease (though she couln't remembe what it was called.) That woman can open her eyes really wide. Amd,medusa, care to share any of your tattoos?
  • Path, I love to share my tattoos but I am not sure I have any pics on disk ready to go....I'll try to dig some up. in the meanwhile, I have a green dragon wrapped around celtic cross on upper back & green vines on left ankle & fake eyebrows.... has there been a tattooed monkey thread?? do we need to start one??
  • Hmmm, same FPP here as here. Unless Medusa is fizz-ed, I'd say someone ain't givin' credit where it's due. (further derailment: fizz-ed has been a MeFite since 23 June, 2004. Another new member intake I missed, or a once-off?)
  • She's Dolly Pardon's evil twin!
  • cephalophile, thanks for pointing out that I forgot to credit our blue comrades at Meta for this link!
  • fizz-ed has been a MeFite since 23 June, 2004. Another new member intake I missed, or a once-off? The Blue has added four new members since the "start your engines" thread was posted here. Not that I've been checking or anything...
  • Even better, check out the before and after shots here (from the mefi thread, but scary enough to repost here).
  • Not that I've been checking or anything... Yes, of course. It's not as if I sit, waiting, watching, drooling, refreshing the new user page constantly, bleary-eyed, praying for a registration form instead of the 'growing pains' message which I've seen so many times I know it by heart... Sad, eh?
  • Dag, this stuff is all the rage with my mother's friends. She lives in upper east Tennessee, which makes the whole situation scarier. I just dont have a high regard for the "technicians" who might be peddling this service. Is this a largely southern phenomena?
  • When I saw the picture I thought it had to be a joke. But I guess you live and learn. I think it would be kind of scary to be married to somebody whose makeup never came off. It doesn't help that those faces are generally scarier in the after pictures than the befores.
  • Jesus. Those before and after pictures are more terrifying than what they did to those poor women on The Swan.
  • They're pretty popular with the older ladies here as well. Although given the kinds of color they like to use, you can spot a permanent from a mile off. My aunt tried to persuade me to do my eyebrows once, but the techinician insisted that I pluck off all my existing eyebrow hair first. So instead of a subtle extension to my horribly truncated eyebrows, I'd get two wormlike tattoos above my eyes. Eeeww.
  • the before/afters are truly horrifying. I guess I am lucky that I got my eyebrows done by a professional TATTOO ARTIST (she also did my ankle vines). she had an incredibly light touch, the finished result was very subtle & completely natural looking. in fact, my only complaint would be that after 4 years it is mostly faded, due to sun exposure & skin care products...c'est la eyebrow.
  • medusa! you mean you don't remember the "show us your ass tatt" thread??
  • oh, and the photo of that woman is PRICELESS.
  • Sidedish, now that you remind me, yes I do....tragically I don't have a tat on the little bootie...I guess now I will have to get one: A BIG BANANA!!!
  • First the post stuff: As someone pointed out on my blog, isn't a bit strange to have a lipstick smooch on your logo? Isn't a big reason to get permanent make up not to leave make up smudges everywhere? Poor. Planning. Then the non post stuff: I gave up checking MeFi for posting history and the way the internet works it's possible to get stuff like this from many different sources. They certainly don't credit us if we post stuff first, so I don't see why it's important to do that here.
  • It's a matter of politeness and respect. If it isn't your cup of tea don't. They won't care anyway. Still, some, like languagehat, wendell and moonbird, credit us.
  • Ya missed my point :)
